I know this was a joke, but I've read in other places that people think the composite pedals are better for fat bikes because of the cold.
I have a set of Specialize alloy flats for my summer bike and they are great. I recently bought a set of PNW composite flats for my Fat bike and they are also great. I've had a few cheaper composite pedals that I didn't like the stud pattern and they didn't seem to hold my foot as well.

That all makes perfect sense - appreciate the input! I tend to go between clipless and flats and spend the money on the clipless knowing the quality is much higher than a knockoff cheaper pedal (release feeling, quality of connection, etc). Assumed the same was true with flats but couldn't conceptually see the major points you listed.

We had our first real snow fall of the season last weekend so I got out with some friends on the Fat bike. Holy cow the ride kicked my ass, but we had fun and the scenery was beautiful.

    not enough.
yeah, i'd agree with the oneup composites being pretty solid and that the pins tend to either rip out or develop play. i've been riding them and so far so good but i also get them cheap so, if i replace a set, doesn't matter. haven't had to replace it just yet though.

Was in my local Trek shop picking up some stuff I ordered online and I get talking with the guy and next thing I know I am ready to buy a new mountain bike. Luckily they didn't have anything in my size in stock or else I would have made a bad decision for my wallet  There's just something about seeing all the nice shiny bikes in person that always gets to me. Plus the guy there is so nice and just wants to chat about bikes if you're not interested in buying. As we've talked about riding and different bikes we've had for over an hour before, sure my girlfriend loves it as then I don't rant about bikes to her as much.

Tossing around the idea of selling the Spire. If anyone on here is interested DM me. Not 100%. Might keep it and mod it in to a straight park bike then buy a shorter travel bike for my local stuff.
    Brief Specs:
    2021 Transition Spire Alloy Raw
    Size L
    XT drivetrain and brakes
Fox Factory 38 upfront, Factory Float X2 out back
    DT Swiss EX1700 wheels.
Would come with stock Anvil cockpit and saddle.
Fork legs are nicked up, stancions are clean.
    Crank arms also marred up.
Rear Agressor is shot. Would replace at buyers request or let you sort that out. Front Assegai about 50-60%. Again, would replace or let buyer sort it out.
Stickers on seat stays rubbed by shoe heels.
Frame is solid. No paint equals no paint chips.

Keep it! That's a forever park rig. Geo is spot on, build is solid. You can thrash that around and it'll keep going. I love new and shiny, but that is a perfect park bike.
Plus, you won't be able to get much for it now, and new rigs are around 40% off. Keep it, get something lighter and snappier for trails.

Oh, and just a heads-up that the Troy Lee site is having a huge sale. Some really great stuff about 40-50% off. Clothes, helmets, gear.

Good luck with your recovery! Do you have an indoor trainer to keep the legs moving?

Going to give these a shot this year for a mid-ride boost for longer rides. I tried one, they’re friggin’ delicious!

Im intrigued, let me know how you like it. I normally cant stand the honey based gels because of the texture but maybe these would be better.

Will do. Its lieterally just maple syrup, nothing fancy, no electrolite blend, just pure sugar to get you past a bonk. They taste just like grade a golden syrup (i grew up with neighbors and relatives who all made their own syrup so I've become a little bit of a syrup snob, no Ms. Butterworth in our house!)

I've tried that gel. Definitely better than the honey flavored stinger gel.
