The costs are definitely feeling outta control, but like dman100 said it's relative.
My first "real" mtn bike was a 94 GT Outpost trail and that was $350 came w/ Shimano Deore spec. My next upgrade was a GT Tequestain '97. That came out too $799 w/ full STX spec and the then new Rock Shox Indy 80mm.( I wanted to upgrade to the Judy 100mm so bad!!)
In today's value the $350 turns into $750, and the $799 turns into $1535.
Which really is telling me that they are right spot on with where the market is. It still sucks to see prices starting in the thousands but take into account the technology updates. The outpost still had non-indexed thumb shifters.

sounds like you need someone with a dog. they would wanna do outdoor stuff with their dog, you got mtb, then stay together. easy. thats what i do with my fiance. i wanted to get her into mtb, but now that we have a dog, its easier to get shuttled/dropped off and picked up for point to points.

They're oblivious thats the spring break college normal so they don't see the chaos that could be.
I asked my friends who are climbers, I was like just got walk and find some random boulders and shit to climb on while I ride.

Issue also lies in the fact that 90% of my friends I work with lol. So finding time do do anything with people thats always the battle

Anyone going to be riding in Bentonville the week of the eclipse? Planning to race on Saturday the 6th in PA then drive to VA. Sunday knock out the remainder, or 90% of it. Planning to hit the eclipse, then camp at Buffalo River for a night or two before pressing on to Bentonville for like 3 or 4 days of riding and hanging out. Drive back and hit another race in VA on that sunday... the 14th I think.

Some Good sales on Intense bikes right now. Still seems like with all these sales going on, buying a used bike is still better option. Unless you plan on cracking a frame and the warranty isn't transferable/previous owner wont help ya out on that

Buttt too old of a used bike and it may not be UDH so I guess theres also that benefit

@backcountryj just trying to remember, did the bar, stem , grips come off your transition?
What did the wheels come from?

Correct. Cockpit was from my Spur. I’m not sure exactly what bike the wheels came from. I bought them on PB as new takeoffs. They saw less than 20-30 miles from me.

PSA- if you have a 1up with the EZ-Up 2 pull handle, make sure you loctite (blue 242) all the grub screws to the handle. The vibration will eventually shake them off if you don't. I found out the hard way. Luckily, I had some 10-32 screws laying around until the grub screws came in. Apart from that, the design is solid and makes it easier to pull the rack up and down if you have multiple trays.

    not enough.
i think in general, it's a good idea to either loctite or torque down everything on a 1up. i constantly check the bolts on the rack more often than teh bolts on my bike. lol

My old race buddy Brian Lopes talking about the industry crash. We raced each other in SoCal in the early early to mid 80's. Also had Jeremy McGrath in
our class. Definitely felt like racing Nationals every weekend with these two guys. Brian and I made the switch to Mtn Biking about the same time.

Is the new design worth buying to replace the old one?

I leave the second tray on for the wife's bike because it is easier to fold up and down than the single tray with no handle. Wish they made a handle for the single tray.

Good to know, I just added a 3rd to the 1Up.
I like the design of the EZ-U2 pull handle.

I have a very high clearance bumper and I had to add an 8" dropper at it's too tall for me.
And I had the corner security ball fall out.

Not really worth getting the new one if you already have the V1. I had to get V2 because they no longer had the older version in production. The big grub screws that came in via the side of the handle on V1 does a better job grabbing the rods in my opinion. The grab handles on V2 is nicer looking though.

Probably just south of Roanoke. Ideally I'd like to get as far as possible to make Sunday's drive easier.

If I do the one on the 14th, it'd be the Stokesville 60/40.

But now I'm thinking about staying down south an extra week. So If I do, would obviously skip that one.

Needing a front tire and thinking of trying an Assegai this time around. Been on Minions F/R or DHF/Dissector for years. Debating going back to DHF/DHR2 or maybe throwing an Assegai on in the front. Anyone holding a new 29er Assegai they aren't planning to use or have a good place to buy? Thinking 29x2.5 MaxxGrip EXO or EXO+.
