I made a sprayer for camp showers and bike washing from a Home Depot HDX pump sprayer and a better handheld nozzle like a cheap pullout faucet would use (plastic). Works great. Lots of examples of how to do this on YouTube. I didn’t watch this whole video but it’s about what I did https://youtu.be/ngi3P5pbk_E?si=un04IqsL1yruo_DP

I think that's the same sprayer I've been using. Honestly, I like the nozzle it came with because I can make it a jet to knock off the heavier mud and then fan it out to get the wetter stuff. I fill it with hot water and use it to wash bikes in the winter also as my only source of outdoor water. Works pretty well.

Does anyone have any experience with spacers on microspline hubs? Saw Boone technology makes microspline SS cogs. Wt and surly space it’s both say HG compatible only. Didn’t know if that meant I was limited to problem solvers microspline kit or Boone’s own crazy expensive spacers

Just another type of bike. Never got the whole "it's cheating" thing. Nobody ever says that if you're pedaling a light XC rig up, or smashing a burly DH rig down. There's always a trade off; for an eMTB it's loss of nimbleness, limited range, weight, etc.
Totally agree on the getting better bit too. Riding a 50 lb rig DH for laps on laps will make you way faster on your enduro.

I raced Salida Enduro last weekend. What a blast! It felt so much easier than Rev Enduro at Glorietta, the only other enduro I have to compare it to.

I raced the amateur class, so 4 stages not 5 like pro/expert. We didn't race the Uncle Nazty stage, which I'm glad about. I haven't ridden that trail, but someone broke their collar bone on race day up there.

I placed 14th out of the 21 races in my category. I was hoping for top 10, but oh well. I came last on the first stage, a lot more pedalling than I remember from my pre-ride. Turns out my rear axle was loose and rear wheel was wobbling like a bassnectar song. I'm blaming my slow speed on that.

Stage 2 was hooligan, maybe the most technical stage of the day. It was snowing at the top, my hands were getting numb, quite a few people were having mechanicals or walking parts. I passed some people on techy switchbacks on rocks they were walking down, which pushed me off the lines I wanted and had to put some feet down, but thats racing. I went otb on the second half of this stage on some sand which honestly was the best possible place to fall. I went over, flipped onto my back right onto a sand pit which was super soft. So I just jumped back on the bike to finish the stage. My bars got a little crooked, bell came unlocked and was annoyingly ringing, and idk what i didnt to my rear linkage, but it started creaking and groaning hard.

Stage 3 was pretty tech too, I got 10th on this one. Went off line in a couple spots but was able to ride through the whole thing. The bottom of 2 and 3 were the same. Didn't fall this time and shaved a few seconds off according to strava.

The last stage was dumb. super pedally. I left my shock in pedal mode and should have left my dropper up the entire time. I had my dropper down the first 30ish seconds but was pretty much standing to pedal the entire time. There were 2 optional side jumps that I would have needed my dropper down to jump, but probably wouldn't have been faster anyway.

my patrol is clapped. dropper needs a rebuild, both brakes need bleeding and new pads, fork needs service, shock could probably use a service, im not sure if its my bb or derailleur/cassette making bad noises, but needs love.

Either way it was a ton of fun. I'd consider doing it again next year depending on dates.

The organizers hinted at a flow-duro on methodist mountain in september. hopefully im free whenever the single day is, but chances are low with all the other stuff i have planned around then.

I’ve said this before but I’ll add my $.02. The only potential problem I can see with them as they get cheaper and cheaper people will go further into the backcountry with a 50lb rig they won’t be able to get out under their own power. Right now I get the impression from my friends and people on here that most ebikers are current and/or regular bikers. As these things proliferate and get cheaper Jerry will make an appearance.

I see your point and I agree to some extent. I just think we would have seen stranded ebikers by now - between older folks that can afford ebikes and the extremely cheap/sketchy ebikes that would fall into the hands of ill informed people.

But yeah, as quality ebikes get cheaper and cheaper it may become more common to see them over extended.

I'm not one for big government but I think some regulation wouldn't hurt when dealing with LiPo equipment. The house fires of the cheap ebikes freak me out.

Where I live I think quite a few of the e-bikers are older, former dirt bikers. Our local family-owned KTM/Husky dealership is on its second-generation owner, now only sells e-bikes. There’s nowhere to ride moto’s locally, yet all but one of our local trail networks allow Class 1 e-bikes. Not that it stops people from riding them at the one that doesn’t allow them also. I do feel that with the surge in e-bike popularity, there are more riders out on the trails than before. Which is probably a good thing for the sport, but I don’t like it :) . My possibly biased perception is that because they’re an equalizer on the uphills, there are more large groups riding together taking up the whole width of uphill fire roads.

Can agree with former moto guys riding them. They're used to a ton of weight under them and don't feel like its "numbed" at all vs those of use who compare to non E bikes feeling of being nimble

Idek why it needed a update but once i hit it to start it made the dropper useless until it was done. Good thing it was a long ride to the top of the trail today

Can confirm. The sheer amount of people on mountain bikes now, especially with the increase in accessibility to the sport with Ebikes, needs to be closely considered by trail management. Unfortunately they don't usually have a great track record of making quick or common-sense decisions.
I think Utah is doing ok with this, especially compared to Colorado (which is my only other frame of reference). They allow them in certain trail centers and maintain those a bit more. Those areas typically hold up better to heavier use.
They keep other areas where too much use beats them up off-limits, though they don't enforce it enough or even have enough signage. They also allow them for anyone with a verified medical condition anywhere, though of course some find ways around that.
Sur-rons are only allowed on moto-trails.
The biggest thing missing is required education on eMTBs. For example; when you go to the Fiery Furnace in Arches NP you are required to take a quick course on human impact in the area and how to best keep that at a minimum. It's not perfect, and people are still people and ignore it, but it helps.
Keeping massive batteries off eMTS would be good too. Keeping accessibility, but reducing the repeated laps and abuse would help.

Since I got this bike used, I don't know when the fork was serviced last but the seals started weeping oil so I figured a lower service was over due. When I opened it up, I can tell it hasn't been serviced since new since it still had gobs of grease in the air shaft piston typical of new Fox forks.

Pro tip- be careful how you hang your handlebar. It is very easy to twist and crimp the brake hose at the lever while you have the handlebar hanging. Luckily, I was able to uncrimp the hydraulic hose instead of having to shorten or replace the hose.

It feels like I have something loose in the front end. Do brake pads come loose? When I jostle the front end and then grab front brake I can feel a bit of the lever pull does nothing and then it’s almost like a “click” as if the pad re seated as its clamping down more. That or I’m just crazy and can’t get pst the noise of my bottle moving around in the cage. It’s been years since I’ve ridden with a bottle. Used to just use a pack since Phoenix I’d chugggg during rides. About to order a Damone hot laps hip pack. Don’t want full backpack all the time
