What is it with those specialized tires and the tanwalls? Mine do exactly what yours is showing where the rear (eliminator) darkens way faster than the front (butcher). I put a new set on recently and its already showing the same thing - not a big deal but a bit of an annoyance. After having two sets do it, I have decided its only black walls from here on with specialized tires.

@backcountryj has an XR4 on the front of his bike, I run the same combo and Bontrger tan walls are lighter. That being said I think the rear gets stained up quicker than the front just from the abuse it takes.

I know when I clean my bike after a ride the rear rim, spokes and hub are way more crudded up than the front.

I was gonna say this too but have no way of proving it haha. I’ve only got tanwalls on my gravel bike, they are specialized too so I may have to look and see how different they are when I get home

Yeah I meant to make note of the front being an XR4 - but that rear tire is showing the same discoloration as the picture I posted. Both front and rear were put on at the same time with maybe half a season of use. Could be as simple as the rear tire getting more gunked up during a ride, but the color difference is very noticeable rather quickly.

I have Specialized tan walls on my gravel bike but it hasn’t really seen much mud since I got it in May and I’m in California. But tires are supposed to get dirty, no?
