For a quick ride it’s fine to just lay it in the bed, but it takes up the entire bed that way. If I’m going on a trip this gives me extra room, and with this I can leave it in the bed for a couple days if needed and still have space for other things. It’s nice to not have to load/unload your bike immediately.

There are streams with trout in the SC mountains that have trout that are in some of the most popular trails. I've always checked them out but never tried fishing for them. Maybe next time I'm home :D

^^This. I did something similar except I mounted a Rocky Mounts base to the lumber and have staggered mounts. I can fit 3-4 bikes depending on the size/bar setup.
You can sort of see my setup in the background here:

Not even that, but the 'short bed' on the F250 is almost 7' long! I have all sorts of room back there.

Right? Rode the Wreckoining and the Arrival on their stock SDU coil, which is a great shock and why I rode them both (at different times) for a full season that way. Both were converted to the Push on their second season, and both were soooo much better in every way.
The Arrival got the new "S tune" and it is waaay more poppy and lively, but feels deeper and more controlled. For a 170mm bike it's truly impressive how well it climbs, pedals under power, and pops. Feels like a much smaller bike when you get lively with it, but plows like a beast when you put your heels down and get low.
Plus, that second circuit is tuned for jumps/flow and it's amazing how good it can jump.
    YMMV

My nephew is selling his Transition PBJ dirt jumper that I’m pretty sure never hit the dirt.

I got my Sid back from the LBS late last week. No charge which is cool. I thought I was gonna have to pay labor fees or something, but nope. I did buy some gloves from them while I was in just so I was buying something.

The fork feels great. No play in the bushing. I'm using the new rock shox trail head app or whatever to set my sag and record settings. I had way too much pressure in there. Why is the default weight setting in the app kgs and not lbs? Its feeling much better when I put the right units in.

The fork came back with grey decals, not the copper that matches my bike. I found the graphics on silk graphics in the right color, Transition Spur Copper, but does anyone know if the original graphics are Matte or Gloss?

My town went all in on replacing the old dirt pump track with a legit one. Just opened last week.

Diamond Hill, right? Those enduro trails across the street is where I went ass over tea kettle and broke my wrist. That pump track looks fun though!

Yes. It’s tucked into the small sled hill behind the stage. Some
Of those trails are no joke.

Ran into this little fella today, first time ever seeing one in the wild. He was squared off with me in the middle of the trail. I backed off and got lucky enough to grab a pic.

Wife and I have seen a few of them around SLC lately!!! I saw one on Fat Lip in PC and she actually ran in to one on the BST above City Creek. It's bizarre to see them...

Crazy. This was very likely the one you saw in PC, it was by the ore cart on three candles. Right in the middle of the trail, didn't see it till I got within 10 feet (was pedaling with my head down). It literally stopped, looked at me, squared off, and just waited. Like, "C'mon if you want some..."
Stopped right quick and backed off.

Ha, that sounds like the exact interaction I had with it! Right in the middle of the trail, stared at me, and then hissed!

I backed off a bit but then it turned around and ran off for some reason.

Time to get my oldest a new ride. Think I’ve narrowed it down to these 3. Any thoughts, opinions, first hand feedback on these?

Trek Wahoo 24 Trail (local shop)
    Specialized Riprock 24 (local shop)
    Commencal Ramones 24 (online/shipped)

Pricing is just about the same once taxes and shipping are factored in. Even though none are insanely expensive, Specialized offering 0% financing is a consideration.

What's his riding ability? Just looking through the specs, the drivetrain on the Specialized and Trek seem more geared towards actual mountain biking, but the Microshift transmission would do better with someone who knows how to somewhat properly shift. The Commencal 7 speed will likely be bullet proof and hold up better to an inexperienced kid still mashing gears.
It also looks like the Commencal has cable-pull disc brakes where the other 2 have hydraulic. Again, if your kid is a decent rider, I'd go hydro all the way but they can be a not so great option for an inexperienced rider who's liable to throw themselves over the handlebars. My kids are younger and on cable operated disc brakes and I have the front run a little loose. I wouldn't want my youngest on hydraulic disc brakes at this point so that could be a feature or a deterrent.

I’d stay with a local shop rig simply because of the opportunity for free tuneups and what not. A lot of shops around me offer that lately, even though I do my own work. Not waiting around for a bike, I ride a lot.
I’m assuming that they’re young since you’re looking at 24” wheels. If you’re a decent mechanic I guess it may not be too important to you tho.
