I agree, many of my crew used to roll down to richmond from Nova just to hit up Pocahontas along with other stuff. My friend Rob was the guy who politiced and developed the trails in williamsburg and richmond so the trails are pretty legit. As far as Norfolk it was pretty scarce there for actual riding so we all got into urban riding there since downtown norfolk has alot of stair gaps and concrete drops if you are into that sort of thing.

Sad to say, but when I was in college in norfolk was the only time I took a hiatus on DH just because it was so hard to find a park that was worth the drive at the time, now a days you can drive 5 hours north to hit up Bryce which isnt the greatest, but works and they stay open until the last minute since it takes them only three days to convert to snow lifts. I havnt been since their infancy, but Bailey over in NC is pretty nasty and thanks to Neko there are some massive road gaps there that I have to admit I havnt had the cajones to hit. I would assume they have only grown bigger since their first year trails.

Hows it going guys! Not new to TW but new to Bikes. Looking at picking up either a Marlin 6 or 7 for my first bike. Can i please get some guidance as to what would be more suitable. obliviously the 7 is a better bike but is it worth paying more for.

    Thanks

So I went out to Eagle Mtn and gave Draco some proper singletrack mtb training, then took a chance and dropped the leash. He did great!

The AluCab will likely give a little more head room than a standard fiberglass topper. Frame size and the wheelbase of the bike will dictate how you need to angle the rear tire to fit the bike in. Its hard to see in the picture, but even my size medium 29er fuel ex had to be angled a bit to fit. After way too many years of using this setup, I got tired of removing the front wheel and moved to a hitch tray rack.

What @paleh0rse said, black loop at fountainhead. That section of trail is the best in my opinion
I might have to check out lake fairfax and Shenandoah River. It’s just hard to pass on fountainhead when I usually only get to ride it on weekends

There is a "Gears and Beers" ride every week at Lake Fairfax that you can check out. It's a decent 10-11 mile loop followed by tailgating in the parking lot. I think their last ride of the year may be this Thursday, though:

When you hit the Shenandoah River State Park trails, be sure to check out both the Allen Mountain and Bear Bottom Loops.

The Shenandoah MTB Festival is next weekend, as well. They're hosting a bunch of group rides in/around Stokesville:

Has anyone here actually gotten the Sensus Bachelor Pad? I splurge bought it last week before doing any research, only to find out that it likely won't fit on the Taco. Wondering if anyone has found a way to make it work?

I had the pipeline rack for my tundra. Got the one that bolted to the rail on the cab. Actually worked really well. Key is to adjust the width of it to be a snug fit on the front tire. If you are carrying a bunch of different size bike tires it is a little annoying adjusting it all the time.

Ah I figured it was either fountainhead or meadow...havnt hit the black loop in a while. For an xc trail, fountain head actually had a decent design to it while meadowood IMO takes alot of speed to make it flow right.

Yeah fountainhead has a solid design. Some parts can get awkward as far as maintaining speed but overall it’s great. Meadowood is fun but for me if I’m driving that far I’m going to fountainhead.
