contributing to the phone discussion; I usually put my phone on Do Not Disturb, so I still receive the notifications, but don't know it until I check my phone at a break or the end of the ride. I track with Strava, and I like taking the occasional photo/IG story, but I don't like getting notification sounds while I'm riding, because it takes away from the actual riding to me. So just using Do Not Disturb is the best option for me.

I do the same and even customized my DND message to say that I'm probably on the bike and will get the message when I get where I'm going; if it's REALLY important, call back within 3 minutes and it will override the DND. My phone's DND will activate as soon as I start moving on the bike more than about 10mph and always when connected to BT in the truck.

Appreciate the offer, but I'm not really a fan of Spot's business practices.

I wasn't either for a long time, thus why mine is currently disconnected, but they did just send me an email a week or so ago that they've changed their pricing and subscription model to seasonal and/or monthly with a reduction in price so maybe worth looking into again.

They used to do the old Sirius/XM trick by offering the first year of monitoring service for $100 and then automatically renewing for twice that amount at the end of the year without notifying customers ahead of time. They wouldn't offer refunds for the automatic renewals either -- even if you called immediately after it happened.

If they've switched to a non-contract monthly fee structure, that could/would alleviate most of my concerns.

I rode a buddies bike for a quick loop this afternoon and realized just how bad my bike sucks...now to wait for tax return...

That’s why I love my 130mm Camber. Can throw that thing around. Nice and nimble. Only gripe is that they cheaped by not including a dropper. But Specialized haters can suck it :duel:

Yeah they feel a little weird, I’m thinking they just need a little breaking in. I used to ride with Tevas before they stopped making mtb shoes and those were so comfortable. The freeriders just feel a little different

Yeah I guess I didn’t expect them to be so stiff. I expected more like skateboard shoes

Cycling shoes have super stiff soles, more of the material on the upper feels weird but I’ll get used to it haha

Are those Contacts? They’re stiffer than the regular Freeriders.
