I finally got a garage beer fridge. It wasn’t cheap ... but it also fits in my Taco.

Honestly, between the star nut, race, and cutting I bring it to my LBS. More often than not, it's free if you go when they're not busy. It's also a good time to BS with them.
If you want to cut yourself, get a guide, and a good saw.

Awesome advice. I picked up a tool set from Feedback, the Team Edition (https://www.feedbacksports.com/product/team-edition-tool-kit/). Made it's money back in no time. Solid tools, very little you'll need above it. I added a set of park hex tools and some other small odds-and-ends.
A good stand is a must.

Never tried that! Might have to see how it goes.

Most frames come with shocks anyways, so I wouldn't let that factor in unless you got an aftermarket shock you love.
Weren't you just saying you wanted something will less travel?

    I just checked it. all the 27.5 bikes are up 10mm. 27.5 jeffsy, 160. 27.5 capra, 180mm.
    the 29ers are jeffsy: 150. capra: 170.

damn the new jeffsy is basically my old capra. save the minute geo differences which (depending on rider) can be negligible.

Fair point on including the shock. A lot of the frames I looked at were stocking a really entry level shock though, and my bronson sports a piggyback Float X so why not take advantage of better parts if I could.

Yeah, I did say I wanted less travel, but that was also before I bought my Stache which handles way more than I thought a good hardtail could. Now that I see what the capabilities of that are, it made sense to cover the upper end of my riding profile with a bigger bike. Like I said, I use my Bronson a fair bit, but my riding doesn't ever really rate a DH bike even on DV days. So the Sentinel splits the difference and allows me a rare N-1.

Pretty sure I need to scratch the single speed itch. My bike rack has three slots after all

It'll honestly change your life. I'm not quite @honda50r level anti-"overlanding" but not having to worrry where to find ice on day 3 of a trip really does help. Plus it doubles the capacity of any given volume since you don't have to account for 50% ice fill. Having a cold beer and an otter pop post-whole enchilada when its 90+ in Moab is a game changer!

That's exactly why we got it. We did a 9 day family trip last summer and spent so much time and money trying to find and then buy ice. Never again.

Thanks man! We got it last February and absolutely love it. I have a RTT that goes on the truck for my daughter and we use the trailer. It's a perfect setup up for us. I don't have any pictures of it with the new Taco, but here's a couple with its old tow vehicle.

damn. sweet setup. along with 3 bikes. Jealous. Now if I could stop drooling over bikes and bike parts to justify getting a trailer... maybe some day.

what do you need to power those coolers? I assume they are DC. I would think you would need a fair size battery bank to go three days

I have a X2Power (rebranded Northstar) group 31 AGM deep cycle under the hood. Fridge runs off either a 110 plug or a 12v cigarette plug. Static the fridge will run for 2 days before I REALLY need to start the truck. But if you are driving around at all during the day, it doesn't seem to have an issue.

If you keep it out of the sun, m fridge runs a 32* setting at 80* ambient on maybe a 25% duty cycle. Thats prob a generous estimate at that.

I have had great luck with my roto-molded cooler with dry ice on bottom and one bag of ice on top. Maybe one day I'll be overland enough to drive 3+ days and never have access to ice

I mean...I did a trip with my coolers over 3 days and the ice did great in our foods cooler. in our drinks cooler, not so much because we were constantly opening and closing the lid.

Plus if you park at an angle that the suns hits your cooler's exterior in Moab come summer, say goodbye to your ice in like 20 minutes.

honestly, even camping at a few places around here locally , just taking the time to drive over an hour each way for the express purpose of getting ice is silly compared to not having to go get ice and worry about soggy and potentially sickening tuna salad sandwiches at all.
