when an entire comparable bike is being compared to a comparable cost frame only option, I think that's the definition of a smokin deal.

I might be missing your point, but to clarify the Smuggler option is a frame only option as would the possible '20 Tallboy (or other) down the line.

HA; Spot on... In all my years racing singlespeed; I have seen only 2 full suspension models. One at Cohutta100 many moons ago but never got a chance to inspect it up close and the other at the MTB Nats at Snowshoe 2 years ago. That dude is actually a local and definitely an outlier in the singlespeed race world. He's not skinny by any stretch of the word; kind of short and stocky... but put him on a bike and he will destroy most mortals with a ridiculously high cadence and just leave your jaw dropped... along with your pride.

That's him on the podium, me 2nd, and his teammate in 3rd at a local XC race and, yes... that is a leg boot he's wearing. He had just recovered from ankle surgery after a nasty motorcycle crash... and still kicked my ass. :boom:

He also bested me at Nats in 2018, placing 5th to my 9th... dude is a beast on a bike.

Hate you both... I-spy with my little eye... A burly Evil with a Push 11-6, Fox 36, and Turbine/Renthal cockpit. Nice... My kind of ride.
And that AXS... God I want it, but the price of a derailleur, which is by all means and definitions a wear item, is goddam ridiculous. A derailleur, alone, is the cost of an entire Eagle GX drivetrain... I just. can't.

    Wolftooth. Best $50 you'll spend.

Dropper gets here today! Upside of backcountry being just a few miles away!

Weekend projects: Frame protection, Dropper install, truck brakes. Should fill a Saturday nicely.

Fears Tears and Beers is on my birthday weekend this year! Stoked for another great round of enduro casual! Ride through a casino on the way up, ride past a brothel on the way down!

Hmmm. Spend the money on a housing cutter and cable puller (I know I don't technically need these) or spend the same money at the bike shop and let them deal with my dropper? decisions decisions

I’d either buy the park tool or make my own tool. Some steel wire, a strong magnet, and housing end cap should work fine and be super cheap.

edit: you could probably use an old shifter cable too
