That rain looked gnarly in the forecast and then if it was like anything we got around here, we had like 2 30 second rain squalls and it was over.

Thinking about sneaking out there early next month if you want a do over.

it has one long chime that takes a few seconds to fade out after hitting it just once.

If you can ignore the annoying music in this demo video, the sound of the bell is near the end:

Anyone interested in trying some RevGrips for less than new let me know. I swap bars and such too often and got tired of the reassembly, they are great if you have any sort of hand pain or even wrist issues.

So while all the hospitals are rejecting non-critical patients and the world is at a near standstill, I decided it would be a super responsible decision to build this thing.

Anyone using a Garmin 830 when they ride? Trying to up my riding this year and I feel like a new toy with some built in accountability might be helpful.

I just use strava because I always have my phone in my possession. The free version works just fine for my needs.

Yeah I've been using Strava for a while. One of the appeals of the Garmin is the navigation and a few other features.

I have a Garmin 530. I’m pretty sure it uses the same case as the 830, I think the main benefit is the touch screen on the 830. I like having a stand-alone gps. It helps me save battery on my phone. I also like having speed, time, cadence, etc on my road bike. On my mountain bike it’s not as useful tbh. I went with the garmin because of the training and recovery features but in hindsight those are only useful if you use garmin to track all workouts. I only use my garmin for outdoor rides so those features aren’t as useful. Depending on what you’re looking for a whoop might be a better option.

Trailforks integration is a big one with the turn by turn navigation. A lot of the mountain bike features are interesting: climbing tracker, training status, quick glance for speed, time, distance, etc. I know its fairly basic stuff but could be nice to have a lot of that info available without having to pull out a phone or try to swipe through multiple apps at once.

Do you ride a lot of unfamiliar trails and networks? I only ask because I tend to ride the same loops and same networks because I'm a creature of habit so I tend to have most of my local riding areas down pat from memory, plus some of my common hitters in Moab, St George, and Grand Junction. Because of that, I very infrequently pull out trailforks on my phone to help me navigate. Time and distance are kinda nice to know on the fly, but not enough for me to spend my money on a several hundred dollar widget that is dedicated to my bike and likely dead anytime I went to use it.

If you were gonna spend that kinda money, I would look at something like a Garnin or Suunto fitness watch. It doesn't do turn by turn directions, but my Suunto Spartan does HR, distance, elevation, etc on a single watch face when in fitness mode (can have multiple "sports" preset like biking, running, etc) and syncs with my strava once it gets back in range of my phone. I tend to have my phone in my pocket as a habit and in case of emergency, but running the tracker on my watch saves my phone battery which dies much quicker than my watch battery doing thee same function.

The house I ended up buying isn't conducive to it, but the one I was under offer for a while was a wide open rectangular backyard. @ripRavioli and I were scheming a wicked pump track with a drop in off the deck.

    not enough.
I use a Lezyne. Specifically the Lezyne Mini GPS with heart rate monitor. It's been great. holds a charge really well and does everything I want it to do. It is tiny so it's sometimes hard to read the screen but it is packed full of features for how small it is.
