I have used Stans for several years and I am ready and willing to try something else. From the sounds of it here and the mountain bike action test, probably Orange Seal Endurance. I used to have success with Stans sealing super nice, and now I also have had issues with sidewall seeping and Stans lifting the edges of their own tape twice in a row, so I am done for a while.

A ton of young riders around here are sponsored by them but I never really took a look at their products. May have to peruse.

I stick with orange seal because I havent had a single issue, and they sent me a free 8oz bottle when I tagged them in a IG post about orange seal plugging an ACTUAL snake bite. Rattler missed my leg and got my back wheel. 2 perfect fang holes in the sidewall.

I'm a newbie. For a first bike, I've had recs for a Trek Roscoe 6 or Cannondale Trail 3. There's also a nearly new Cujo 2 for sale near me for under $1K.98% of my riding is going to be pretty FLAT (Memphis doesn't offer much in terms of altitude), so I'm looking at a hardtail, a dropper post or the ability to get one, basically something I can use for a while and won't be regretting going dirt cheap in a year. What do y'all think?
Any suggestions, thoughts, cries of anguish are welcome.

...Forgive me if I missed this info somewhere amongst the 752 pages.

I went through what you went through a year ago and ended up with a salsa timberjack. A year later and i am still loving it although i am getting the itch to upgrade to a full suspension

I’d check out the Salsa Timberjack. Maybe a Surly Karate Monkey and check the Giant site. They tend to have good values

I helped my son in a similar quest last year and settled on Salsa Timberjack. Seemed like best value in features/components for the price. Added a OneUp dropper. He got the 27.5 version but I think it can be configured as a 29-er also. It’s heavy but that doesn’t seem to slow him down.

My brother lives approximately 2.5 hrs from you and is selling his 2019 trek x caliber. I’m sure he’d meet you in the meet you in the middle.

Yes the salsa timberjack can be built in a 27.5+ or 29. I myself went for the 27.5+ deore level as that was all i was willing to spend at the time.
