Does come in EXO+ and DD casings now, With EXO+ it's only 50g heavier than the DHF. I hear the tread pattern is a little slower rolling though. I guess I'll see when it gets here.

I should clarify, by uphill pig I meant slow rolling but it was a beefy tire when I tried it.

Buddy demo'd an Ibis ripley that had dual assegai's on it and he did not enjoy the 2000+ ft pedal around PCMR.

Oh I bet it's miserable on the back. I don't feel like modern trail bikes have much weight on the front tire when climbing so hopefully wont suffer too much.

I've been running the Assegai up front and absolutely love it. The grip on DH is phenomenal. Granted, it is a bit heavy but as a front, not much of a concern. Didn't feel like it's become a detriment for my uphill performance.

DHR II in the rear and it is a bit of a bear goign up but it's doable. I thought about Aggressor in the rear but didn't want to deal with changing it up just yet.

I'm running a coil and 4 pot brakes and am never going to be the first guy to the top. I'm excited to try it.

These flats were not stans-able, both required some bacon to seal. Mine was right next to one of the center lugs and my wife punctured the sidewall. Either way, I think we're gonna both go with DD casing now since the desert can be pretty harsh on tires.

that's why i run cushcore! :D no flat worries. I've had to flat repair other people's tires though mid trail though. :/

I know cushcore helps with pinch flats and ring dings, but I assumed it wouldn't prevent a hole right in the middle of the tread...?

no, but even if you have a flat tire, you can use it as a run-flat almost. Can help you get down the mountain. There have been moments when I've ridden with less than 15 psi because I just didn't check. and then I get to the next ride and pump up and realize it was that low. :/

I was reading something interesting the other day. One thing they have been finding with all rim insert designs is that it can prevent against sharp objects but the likeliness that you can burp / blow up a tire also increased if hitting big features because the air volume is smaller so the pressure ramps up way quicker than with a non-insert tire.

interesting. you have the source? I haven't burped my tire at all since putting cushcore in and i've been charging harder this year. Cushcore provides some insane sidewall support.

What an eventful day. 3 miles in and everything went to shit

First, my chain snapped (2 months old), Maybe the dork disc does serve a purpose!

Go on, hit a few jumps some ups and downs. 10 mins later I go to change gears and it doesnt snap but the chain gets pushed All the way into the spokes. And the derailur was bent wedged on the inside of the cassettes biggest cog. I had to walk it out. In the lot I took a closer look and I cracked my derailur where it hangs to the hanger/bent the hanger as well. Just my luck my LBS had the same derailur, 1 left too lol.

I actually dig the other color combos, and the performance reviews of the fork have my attention, as well.
