Judging by the dust trail I think he has the speed, just going to be very rear wheel heavy on the landing

Borderline Case-y, but TBH it was as good as it is gonna get. You really gotta get cookin' to clear it clean. That "transition" is a pretty brutal speedbump. This whole jump could use a good grooming.

I just bought the Yakima hold up 2 for my taco and really bummed that the tailgate comes down and hits the rack. Anyone have any ideas of other racks that will allow the tailgate to come all the way down?

I've had the single version for about 4 years and I've only removed it two or three times. I looks and works just as great as the day it arrived. I modified it so that the tailgate will open even when the rack is folded up.

I had a KUAT rack and some jerk stole it off my truck with it locked on less than a week after I got it. I obviously was super bummed about it and decided to contact there customer service and within a week they sent me another KUAT. That being said I know run a Ubolt through the receiver. There customer service was on point and this is by far the best rack I have ever used. When in the level setting without bikes on it and you're trying to lower your tailgate it does have contact but the rack drops to a lower position that gives you plenty of space between the tire cup and the shell of your tailgate. IMO that isn't an issue for how great this rack is built. But hey to each his/her own. Happy trails ma dudes.

6" extension will do the job fine (does for me in both 2 and 4 bike config). If I were to upgrade racks, I'd go to a Recon (reconracks.com). But I only use the rack for road trips where my windsurf gear takes up the bed (tailgate pad otherwise), so as stout as those Recons are (they're local here, so I see a ton of them), I just can't justify it.

I used to be the graphic designer at Shimano North American / Bike Division. I still help out with projects.

Couple years back at Christmas pinkbike had some stories about giving bikes to kids. There was one at Shimano I organized and raised money to buy bmx bikes from verde one year and giant / bell helmets another year. Think we gave 12/13 bikes each time.

Thanks for the input. Got to try the bike last week. Medium 29er will only fit with my current mounts To an angle the bike towards the center or side as a reference for anyone else. Gonna make up some new mounts that sit on top of the rail to give the bikes a touch more room.

Figured I’d show how it’s currently set up now that the crossbar is installed.

Due to interference with the fork, I could not face the mount straight down, so I chose facing back instead, which drops the front handlebar height down 3.5”. Just as easy to load up, plus my front wheel and gear are all locked in the bed, out of the elements.
I keep a milk crate in the bed for my shoes, helmet, gloves and glasses, and it has enough room to hold dirty clothes for the trip home so I don’t stank up the interior with sweaty shirts.

Rode the Ben Lomond trail in Ogden this weekend. 15.7 Miles and 3,532 feet of elevation gain of steep and loose. Legs are a little sore today.
