Coming in yesterday, we stopped outside of Vegas to hit Union Trails (Moose Cock and Cock Connect, Dragon Teeth, and Houdini).

Today we did Barrel Roll, Sidewinder, Precipice, and Suicidal Tendencies, and we got super lucky with the rain, which only sprinkled briefly.

We will try for Zen et al. tomorrow. Thanks for the tips, all.

Edit: so we did Zen and loved it so much we did it again. We tried to do Barrel but kept getting confused by the fireroads that intersect all the trails; there were a lot of people in side-by-sides and Jeeps. Tomorrow: Gooseberry.

Finally got out on my Smuggler today. Have been riding my hard tail and road bike mostly. Was high 30’s with rain but the trails were silent.

It's never too cold, you just need better clothes lol.
Horrible winter riding makes summer riding all that much better.

20-25*f is the best temp for any winter activity. Over the years I've been getting better and better gear, riding at 0*f isn't too bad but once it gets below 0 it really comes down to do you want to suffer lol.

Took the 5010 and Firebird out yesterday. That was the Valentine Date. Doesn’t get much better than that, no dealing with crowds and people waiting in lines for food since we just went and got takeout :D

2 of the largest High Schools were there training at the trails. Stopped and listened to the coach some, really nice group of people from both schools.

I was impressed at some of the technical sections, however there was one panic and I got to watch her go OTB. Probably on her and me, she was going first and instead of stopping at a scary spot and watching me she attempted got nervous and a handful of brakes over she went.

Hurt at first, let her calm down and finished the ride. Needless to say for her I’m probably going to go ahead and invest in a good full face to wear all the time for now and knee pads. Shoes will have to wait for time being.

Any of you guys carry first aid/ems type stuff on more remote rides?

Got an upcoming trip to Brevard and decided this time im going to bring a tourniquet and a moldable folding splint. Dont know why I never considered it before - even after breaking my ankle on local trails and needing firefighters to come carry me out.

I bring it on a trip with me, but usually stays at vehicle. I haven’t done any multi day rides or backpack biking before though.

Generally where I ride even if it’s a 15 mile ride I’m not far from a road or parking spot.

I bring a basic 1-2 person first aid kit. No tourniquets or anything like that. Basic bandages and wipes and cleaning type stuff. Haven’t gotten very “sendy” yet. This is my worst injury to date, needed stitches but didnt get them

This is in my big hydration pack which I’ve mostly been using for hiking recently. A Sam splint fits in my pack as well, which I believe is still in my pack haha. I don’t carry much first aid wise on shorter rides though. 56C49F54-D9EB-4747-A2BA-246BF1096472.jpg
