    I'd consider the lunch loops area in grand junction as well. That's the best riding in that area in my opinion.

    If you ride South mountain make sure to hit national Trail going downhill to the east. You'll be able to see "the waterfall". Personally I'd be taking route number two just because I have a strong desire to get out to Utah.
    Depending when you'd come through phoenix I might be able to ride with you if I can manage to get my hands on a bike. Mine will be a while.

    Saw that. I rode yesterday and tried to really pay attention to my bike size and fit. The geo matches the medium Optic almost exactly. I think I’d be ok upsizing. That said, I read so much about how great the stock Rockshox shock was on the 2020 Optic, I’m a bit hesitant to go to the DPX2 even though that’s on the highest build for 2020. Probably more than I am wanting to spend without riding one first but that’s a nice build no doubt.
    Well I want more! How does it compare to the Tallboy you had? What is its best attribute and biggest weakness?

    No I don't. We have friends from there so we don't usually camp when we're there. I know there are some cool campgrounds in Colorado national monument though.

    Question for the nerds in here: can you swap the Grip damper in a 2021 Fox 36 Performance 160mm fork with the 2021 Grip 2 VCC damper?

    I know previous gen Fox 36's were possible but curious about the 2021 Forks. I'm looking a the new Switchblade Race X01 build that comes with a Grip damper I'd eventually like to swap in the future.

    The V3 Following and the V4 Tallboy are very similar bikes, on paper and on trail. Their geo differences are apparent in the real world.

    The TB has a slacker head tube angle and a longer wheelbase. Just as one would assume, that makes it a little more composed on steeper rougher terrain. Conversely, I find the Following to be more nimble and playful as well as more pedal friendly with its steeper HT, steeper ST angle, and shorter wheelbase. Neither comment is to say the TB is a slouch at climbing or isn't playful, or that the Following can't handle the rough. Just that I think each have an edge in those given departments, which shouldn't be too shocking based on their geo.

    The biggest standout difference to me is the general suspension 'feel' that each bike conveys. The VPP of the Tallboy has a more firm and planted feel, while the Followings Delta link setup is more plush and forgiving (purely subjective evaluation). With a coil shock the TB was much more comfortable. Maybe I'm old, but the Following is just way more comfortable to ride at any speed.

    My only gripe so far with the Following has been the lower shock bolt wanting to work loose frequently. Putting some loctite on the threads remedied the issue, but the rear end is pretty noisy and I have pinpointed the bolt as the source. I need to just pull and regrease all the linkage bolts and shock bolts, I've just been procrastinating. Plus I'm thinking of putting a coil in the back so I'm half waiting to do that all at once.

    Yeah, it's weird. We had people from a few S. American and W. Europe countries join the group (I left it open) who were logging tens of thousands of miles, KOMs on most rides, etc... Just screwed with the group's stats and kinda annoyed me. I mean, why join a group you're not even a part of?
    James and I clean it up every once in a while.

    I don't have confirmation, but there is no reason it wouldn't. Chassis is the same between the two.
    **GRIP2 w/VVC is a significant upgrade over GRIP, even if you don't like fiddling with the knobs. :rolleyes:

    Good stuff man. Based on reviews I've read, I would have guessed the TB to be the more plush and soft of the two (planted) and the following to have more support (poppy but maybe less comfortable). Interesting. One turnoff to the Optic is it sounds like the high progressivity is mostly from the shock packed with volume reducers. I'm looking mainly at 120-130 rear travel bikes, so plush is not what I'm concerned about, but I also don't want a rear end that's overly stiff and jittery at speed.

    Ride feel is subjective, but I definitely consider the VPP to be more firm than the Delta setup. Keep in mind both are still 130/120 bikes, so I'm not saying the Following is a pillow mush machine. Its still a short travel bike that provides trail feedback, but between the two, my butt is happier on the Delta on all the riding I do the majority of the time.

    i love my Optic :) went with the C2 Shimano build. To be honest I haven't ridden it enough to give a full seal of approval but from my limited time with it last fall it was perfect for me and my terrain (midwest, MN). Super stoked to get more accustomed to it in spring time.

    Got myself and the GF some knee pads. Her first pair and my second. I’ve currently got the Leatt Air something lol.

    She tagged the knee this weekend.

    Also gonna order some highly reviewed cheap booty pads on Amazon. Then I’ve gotta get her to measure her head.

    These are solid prices, just hope they fit.

    I've got those half shin pads and love them. Not my go to for general all around riding, but anytime I'm riding a trail I know will have a chance of gnar, they go on.
