How are you liking the bike rack? I’m about to make a purchase. But doing the last research. I’m sure this is the one i should get compared to the others. But thought I’d ask. I’ll probably keep this on my daily and outside, and move to either the Tacoma or FJ as needed. You feel that’s simple to do? Seems like it’s a nice rack and fairly easy to move..

Thanks and anyone else with a 1UP feel free to chime in. Thanks.

Even though it’s all aluminum, it’s a lot of aluminum, and it’s heavy, but yes it’s easy to take off and on. I have one

Thanks for the reply. I wouldn’t be moving it often. Only if I were to be going out of town really. My daily is what I have my oldschool hatchback rack on. but with the new MTB, I need something else, and really, Ive been looking for a platform style rack for a while now.

Any other thoughts on it? Any style of hitch lock work on these? I have a few from my jet ski trailer I was going to use. I don’t actually see a hitch lock on their site, just the wheel locks. Would be nice to have one key for all three, or even four if I get the cable lock.

Mine came with a hitch lock, I'd assume yours will.

I have a 2 bike heavy duty 1Up and I take it on and off quite a bit. It’s heavy, but not awkward. And I’m just three months away from Medicare age. Also, it’s easy to tilt up and down for tailgate access on our Taco and liftgate access on my wife’s VW Golf so leaving it on isn’t restrictive.

Sope is my go to if I only have 1 hour to ride during lunch in my work week. It's only 15 minutes from our house in Marietta.

I’ve installed a lot of tubeless tires and assuming the rim tape didn’t get compromised, I’ve NEVER had a problem getting them to seat easily using my compressor. Until this past weekend. I tried every trick I know, removed my air hose extension to increase flow, cranked up the regulator on the compressor (don’t try that at home), even tried a ratchet strap around the circumference. Nada … just air and Stan’s oozing out all around. Finally in desperation I turned to YouTube. And this trick worked https://youtu.be/tE3h4nmDdOo . Note I didn’t use the floor pump, still used the compressor. Just passing it on.

    interesting.

ive redone my cush core like 4 times in the last couple months. this last time seemed to work fine, but the tire seems to be all wonky and wobbly. a maxxis dhr. the rim itself is pretty true, so thats not it.

do i just deflate and try this trick? get the bead as close to the rim as i can then reseat?

CBI bed rack and sliders, Backwoods Adventure Mods front and rear bumpers, etc. And some stickers.
Make sure the line on the tire around the rim is showing and even. Sometimes it gets stuck under the rim edge. I just add more air and try to get it to pop onto the rim, bounce the wheel, or actually riding on it gets it to pop into place.

That is a pretty slick trick, though. My main trick has been swearing, sweating, and persistence.

Kinda confused me, but 50% of the circumference of the tire bead edge UP on the rim edge or just inside?

    Thanks!!!

I like it. I added a 3rd tray so we can carry 3 bikes. I only put it on when in use so your question about moving it is a good one.

    Pros:
    1. Really well made. Solid. Screams quality
    2. The anti sway mechanism works really well. Happy they include a hitch lock.
    3. Bike mount quickly, easily.
    4. Very modular, super easy to modify with locks, and extra tray, etc.
    5. Fits in the hitch easily, easy to adjust.
    Cons:
    1. It is somewhat heavy with 3 trays, pushing 60-65 pounds and awkward to carry. 2 Trays was heavy but I could manage it on my own. With 3 trays, for safety reasons I do ask my wife for help. I am nursing a hernia and alone it pushes me to concern.
    2. Feeling confident the bikes are on there securely takes some faith. This IS my first hitch carrier so take that comment for what it is worth. I did a few trial drives with our cheapest bike to gain confidence and last outing we took 3 bikes about 40 miles one way and it was rock solid.
    3. The tilt mechanism is a bit glitchy. I think it needs to loosen up. Look at the EZ reach accessory. It helps, but still isn't great.
    4. Add on locks and accessories add up. I bought 3 wheel locks, plus the 3rd tray lock, plus the EZ Reach. Added nearly $200 to the cost. But, they are quality add-ons.
    5. Need a place in garage to store it. I literally had one unused spot left in my garage where it sits but it is not near the door. I need to clear a spot for it so it is closer to where we load and unload.
Summary - If you are getting a 1-2 tray carrier I think you are fine. If you are concerned on moving it around with 3 trays, I would call it a toss up. I told my family that when we use it, they have to help attach the carrier, load it up, and unload it. I wasn't planning on being the bike bitch who does all the work. They have helped so I am fine. I would not want to be moving it around on my own on a regular basis.

I would buy again. The pros outweigh the cons for me. If I was moving it 3-4 times a week I may think differently. But this is like a 2 times a month thing for our family. When I ride solo I don't need it.

The solution to the storage issue is resolved with another expensive 1up add-on, the Rack stash.

    https://www.1up-usa.com/product/rack-stash/

I held off for a long time due to the expense. Planned to fab something up on my own but finally just said F it and ordered theirs. It’s been a game changer. Especially since I was carrying my rack up a flight of stairs to my above garage shop as to not clutter up floor space in the garage itself.

    not enough.
yeah. I use the rack stash. It also works to hold my ball hitch.

Side note, I've noticed with 4 bikes on the rack, ther eis a little bit more up and down play in the rack. :/

You clearly haven't seen my garage! I have no wall space left with various shelving, etc. I agree though, this is a good option if you have the space.
