I've actually thought about going mullet-lite (27.5+) to provide a bit more rear wheel cushion.

would that be considered mullet lite though? don't most 27.5+ wheels have the same diameter as 29?

but if your bike can fit the width, def try if you know someone with a wheel you could borrow

Good eye! Top two are terror ridge, bottom are corner canyon. Gotta say, actually being able to pedal up to the top of the ridge is pretty sweet. Thanks motor!
Been on a terror-sled kick, super fun. Also love linking up maple hollow, levitate, jacobs ladder, and rush.

Are you asking if it’s in Colorado? I would bet not, based on the dirt, trees, and topo.

    The description says Trinidad, Colorado.
Didn't really look like Colorado though. Like why feature tight tree shots when there's massive mountains here

Just did this with my Big Honzo. 29x2.6 Vigilante on i30 rim up front and 27.5x2.8 DHR on i38 in the rear. First ride on it was this past Sunday. Definitely noticed the extra volume in the rear, (2.8+ tires have more volume than a 2.6, which is not a plus tire) also thought it might slacken the HTA a bit. I'm not sure I'm talented enough to notice that but...it's got to just a smidge.

The DHR is 1 1/4" less overall diameter, so 5/8" ride height. I was running a 29x2.6 Nobby Nic on i30 previously. The bike felt fine, nothing weird so I'll ride it like that for a while, maybe switch back & forth to see if I can actually notice a difference. If I do I'll post my unprofessional thoughts. :)

Had a new bike day last week: FandangoDC9 from MTB Tandems. It's heck of an upgrade from our 30 year old Cannondale MT1000. Our grom does pretty well on his single bike, but this really extends duders range.

Figured it'd slacken things a tiny bit, hence mullet lite. My frame was actually designed for 27.5+ and I've just been running 29 cause that's what I had.

Great info, looking forward to hearing more!

    not enough.
love the ridge. if i feel like hiking up to it. lol. The new deer track along the side of taht mountain helps a ton but still pretty rough hike-a-bike. Last time I was there, some ladies near the top of the peaks were like, "omg...you guys are crazy. i would rather pedal up this than down this". I just looked at them funny and said, "actually, it's much easier the other way around. going up this woudl be near impossible for most people". lol

dude. that cc lap is pretty big.

PSA - Anyone travelling between Salt Lake City and Southern Utah...do yourself a favor and stop in Richfield, UT and ride the Pahvant trails. Without a doubt, this is one of the best-built "new" trail systems that I have been to in years. I drove down on Saturday from SLC, rode for 4 hours or so and drove back home in time for dinner. I rode everything there except "Dos Equis" and the top section of "Cairn-Age." The riding is a mash-up of Fruita, CO & Hurricane, UT with a splash of Mag7 (Moab). Fun-Factor is high. I will definitely return for more!

Sorry, I didn't take a single photo. If you follow Nate Hills and "Follow Cam Friday," he was riding at Pahvant this weekend. FCF on 12/3/2021 highlighted the "Spinal Tap" trail.

+1 on Pahvant. Stopped in there last month, had a blast on Spinal Tap. Only had time for one lap, but will definitely be back next time I'm through.

Looked back at the ride, realized I missed Levitate. Started at the M.H. trailhead, up all the way to the top of Jacob's. Down Jacob's, Rush, back to the other side (passing by Levitate) and down M.H. Ended up being 25 miles, 4400 ft (Strava missed the first bit).
I'm going to add in Levitate next time, maybe today!
Here's the ride if you're interested.

yea its tricky finding 170s. took me a couple months to find some gx 170 dubs. almost ordered an entire drive train for the cranks.

you could always swap the bb to a dub gxp and gives a few more options i think.

How are those BERDs!?!?! Those wheels seem so intriguing to me.

Yes!!! Thanks for reminding me about Spinal Tap! The wife and I were trying to think of places we could head for a full day bike date on Friday since we're both off and kids will be in daycare.
