I broke a shifter on my gravel bike in September. The ones I have are prone to breaking. They have a fatal flaw and all eventually break in the same place. Shimano doesn't sell the part to fix them. I put some new GRX levers and calipers on our shop backorder list. Checked again today to see what the timing looked like. Originally they said March which would be fine. Perfect to get rolling again once the snow is gone. Now.....November 2022.

Also have wheels on backorder since last year with no signs of a date yet but likely in summer according to our distributor. Ugh.

So....for the price I was going to pay for new levers, brakes, and wheels I may as well buy a whole damn bike.

My shop is sold out of gravel bikes for the year already. I didn't much like our offerings anyway. Ha.

Now just trying to see what I can find in the country, that's in stock, that I can get in the next month or so. I've been looking at Canyons. Mainly the Grizl. They have a few I'm interested in actually in stock. By the time I pay duty on them I'm up to nearly the price of a shop-bought bike. Dang.

I was hoping to find a Giant Revolt Advanced 1 or 0 but there's nothing available in Western Canada.

SC, popular bike brand I think from socal originally. I am searching for those who ride the SC chameleon .

Look for used Revolts. I was in the same boat trying to find a new Revolt Advanced 0 but I was laughed out of two shops since they're never in stock. Just got my used one in mint condition from a great dude on PB. Considering everything went up in price by $500+ you're way better off going for a modern used bike.

$3k shipped for this puppy (Carbon frame, wheels, cranks, and Ultegra drivetrain)

It was a thread about very expensive bike parts and bike related things that have impressed them or they had no buyers remorse after.

The used market is pretty much non-existent where I live as well as the province as a whole. Decent used bikes are a rarity around here. Even when they do exist no one posts them locally. They all go on pinkbike to be sold and shipped.

Imagine what you'd think the used market in North Dakota would be like but just a few miles north and in Canadian dollars.

I'm ok with used but I won't buy used sight unseen.

I think that posters question was valid. I too wasn’t sure if you were referring to Santa Cruz as a location or as the bike brand.

I’ve owned two SC bikes, one being a previous gen Chameleon, and ridden several others.

What exactly are you asking? Paging @Dr. Doom Says

I've had a couple Santa Cruz's. Will be swapping parts over to a new Chameleon today/tomorrow.

Plenty of Chameleon believers in here though.

Ah yeah I should have been more specific. But being a bike thread I figured y'all knew I was referring to the bike. So, I'm very fond of 29ers, I'll take them over any full suspension anyway of the week. I have considered picking up a 29er, looked at the sc chameleon, yeti arc nice but do not want a carbon frame. Aly , or steel. I have also considered the kinda Hondo 29er, it's a Steelie. The Kona is a tad bit expensive and the drivetrain is ok. Same with the chemeleon .

Just posted my 2018 Tansition Scout GX (medium) for sale on PB. Not sure if links are ok here for that. Pricing is all over the place right now, so wasn't really sure where to start. Solid fun bike if anyone is looking. I also have some wheels and tires for sale: Spank 350 rims, I9 1/1 hubs, Maxxis DHF 2.5/Dissector 2.4 EXO+ (literally 2 rides) for sale. Pictured on the PB ad. Hit me up if interested.

Along with bikes/taco talk, there’s lots convo about riding locations in this thread. Santa Cruz is a well known and talked about riding locale.

Both the Honzo and Chameleon are great bikes if those are your preferences for a hardtail. The latest gen Chameleon was given the longer slacker treatment, I believe the Honzo has also gotten more aggressive as the years have gone on.

facts, but is the hondo worth the extra 500-700 bucks over the santa cruz? I know SC is a good brand, not sure if they got bought out in the 90s? maybe just a rumor. I really wish gary fisher never sold out...

Honzo can be had in aluminum too. But as someone else here mentioned Kona has been bought out and things are changing with the brand. My local shop has already dropped them.

DL variant is aluminum and can be had as complete (not worth the price given the parts on it IMO) or frame only. @backcountryj is mostly responsible for mine as I got tired of seeing his fork for sale and had to buy it to put him out of his misery then I had to do something with it
