Back to wilderness trails today for me. Had a shorter window of time, and less gas in my legs, so I opted for some classic DuPont miles.

Jim branch/Hooker/Hickory/Ridgeline lap. Followed by Burnt Mtn/Little River/Cedar Rock/Big Rock descent.

Token Cedar Rock/Big Rock intersection pic with a little iPhone panorama from Big Rock.

While regaining my composure at the top of Cedar creek a guy rolls up just having completed his climb. He says to me ‘That one is a soul stealer.’ Couldn’t describe it better myself.

Haha! Thats kinda funny in a weird way. We have one locally at Yellow Creek St park and we call it "soul sucker". If ya have the umph to get up it you feel like the life got sucked out of you at the top and if you can't make it and need to hike-a-bike a bit, you still feel so deflated.

Last time we rode Dupont we parked at the parking lot at the bottom of Big Rock Trail. We got to the bottom after a cedar rock/big rock loop and I realized I left a hip pack at the top with my phone/wallet/keys in it, never climbed so fast in my life.

I live right near there... it's my favorite place to knock out a 1 hour/17 mile loop on my gravel bike in the evenings. Very gravel friendly trails indeed!

Well I won't be racing soon, but that doesn't mean I can't do stupid long challenges on my own time.

One more NorCal shot before heading back to the rainy East. Plus the obligatory Taco shot.

2.36 mile loop on strava. so right around 70 miles total.

hoping I can do it all in less than like 14 hours. Shooting for a 530am start and a full day of riding

I need advice on hitch extensions.

I have an ATH high clearance bumper with tire swingout. I have a Kuat Sherpa that I’m trying to mount.

The hitch mount is a flat faced hole behind the license plate so I can’t use a anti-rattle U-bar thing.

I bought the 10” Kuat hitch extender but it doesn’t give enough clearance. The Kuat extender has a good internal anti-rattle cam.

I tried a generic 12” hitch extender with a fat bolt/nut at the pin hole to reduce rattle but that was useless.

what set up that gives at least 12” extension has worked for you without rattle?

I`d look into having a welder extend the Kuat one since it has the anti rattle set up that works with your receiver.
