You'll get used to it. Just keep those elbows and knees loose or "soft". Less stiff the better. I always like to turn with my belly button, it naturally will loosen you up as you lift your head

I feel like this gain alone is reason enough for me to put some time on a pump track/skate park. No dirt jumps in my hood.

that's a super sick park! BMX bikes are nice to practice on too. They are deceivingly small though, most seem to be designed around kids unless you spend more money on it or build it yourself.

That video makes me want to go to a skate park haha. I never got above the coping on a mini ramp but it was still fun.

Interesting never thought of it that way... I like it.

The Aaron Gwin youtube cornering video helped me. He talks about looking out of the corner where you are going rather than staring at your front tire and the turn... which sounds super obvious but for me not so much just braking too much staring at that 2.5 Ass Guy..

I've found I ride better after a night ride with a helmet light. It kind of forces you to look ahead at the trail, and you steer where you are looking. Just wish that habit would stick with me longer.

For as cheap as I got this bike I definitely plan on it. DJ front wheels are cheap, but forks are pricey. Manitou Expert can be had for under $400 and Pikes around $680.

Yeah going BMX I was looking at at least 21” TT for 20” wheels.

i'll have some rock and dirt left over from a french drain i put in at my house. my backyard is full of weeds and needs to get ripped up anyway (maybe idk anything about making a yard less full of weeds and more full of grass).

so before i undertake all that (honestly idc it can wait until next summer), i'm going to put a couple pump bumps in an oval, maybe a figure 8 inside, with 2 berms on the end? maybe a jump since theres already a concrete wall separating my upper backyard from lower portion.

i definitely don't have enough dirt for a real good track though. and theres a ribbon cutting on a new pump track a mile from my house on aug 1st. but whatever. im hoping to have at least a jump i can learn a toboggan on

That sounds sick. In my experience you can never have too much dirt. Even a kicker and mulch lander would be huge

It might be the lazy route, but it’s honestly more fun to just rip around on my neighbors backyard track on the mini bikes :notsure:

Just had a 4 day Kanuga trip, came out of it unscathed and then dislocated my shoulder digging for a seatbelt in an awkward position in the parking lot lol.

Just received word that my custom bmx frame has been finished! Ordered it in April 2021, but between supply shortages and a line of customers with fleet orders before me it got delayed a bit. Went with geometry that’s hard to find these days and the paint is a translucent black in the rear triangle that fades to a clear coat over raw metal. Can’t wait to have it in my hands and build it up!

someone who does BMX. What are your thoughts on this bike? Spec wise seem great. 100% chromoly frame, fork, and bars. Dual layer rims, and 14mm rear axle. Can be had after coupon and active junky CB for $190 to you Door.

Obviously chineesium. Maybe Taiwan, I’m unsure.

For that price it seems like a great option, especially if it is just to test the internet waters and see if it’s something you’d be into.

Personally, I think I’d spend the extra $150ish on something like a Kink Curb or Cult Access. But that’s strictly based on me knowing those brands. I wouldn’t be surprised if they shared the same tubing and some of the same parts as the one you linked.

Also, all of these entry level bikes these days seem to be very well made compared to what was available when I started in 2000ish. Chances are the frame will hold up just fine and any parts that fail can be easily replaced or upgraded.
