Thanks for the advice! I do think if I just buy a whole new wheel, then I'd use the current broken one to try and rim swap. Then it won't be as high stakes because my bike already has two good wheels on it

Going to call the LBS tomorrow to see if they have a rim in stock so they can just swap it, but if not, I'm going to look into getting the whole wheel assembly to get me back up and running + a rim to try the swap on my own with low stakes

I spent three times as long polishing the spokes as I did lacing the wheel.

Heal up man. I hear that, I've been fighting lower back pain all year. Comes and goes, but when it's here I'm off the bike for about a week. Sucks.

You are too nice but thank you for the compliment. I enjoy your positivity in this thread!

I'm all about DIY but there ain't much worse than a creaky headset. Take your time and looking forward to hearing about your experience

I pay the shop for angleset installs lol

Heard that. I removed all the 12 speeds from our rental fleet and replaced them with GX 11 Speed. Shit is bombproof

That look fun, nice job getting out there man! Keep riding alongside those ripper dudes and you'll find yourself improving quickly

I'm not quick to make a judgement here - I guess it depends on your tone to that Dad

Dude I agree. My next bike will probably be a 130ish mm 27.5 full suspension bike. My riding style is changing from racey to playful and wheel size preference accordingly

Don't know if you're a parent, but it's tough to judge. Since I became a parent, there have been at least a few times I've reacted to things in ways I'm not proud of due to being tired or frustrated or something or distractedd or whatever. It's also easy to get really defensive when it comes to parenting advice from strangers.

I got my Rallon back from the LBS after getting the chainstay repaired and it looks pretty good. They have a guy in house that repairs carbon and it only cost $215! Since I just got the offering, I figure I'll sell it and someone will get a very loved but still great bike for a good price. Is $2500 a good price for this? 2018 Orbea Rallon M10 with Hunt Carbon wheels.

I tried it, for my neck. I’ve been snowboarding and mountain biking like an idiot for too long. About 10 years ago I suffered a serious compression to my spine when I threw a rodeo into a chute. Landed weird, tomahawked down. Got really lucky and missed the walls, but I had compressions to my T3-5, L1-3. I couldn’t walk for 6 weeks, crazy nerve pain for months. Shit was rough.
I tried every damn thing I could outside of surgery. Nothing worked, including cryo. I then met an amazing PT who just worked with me and got me back on my feet. No surgery.
I “just” have to deal with occasional flare ups as my discs contact nerves. Just need to wait, stretch, rest. Accucpuncture works, massage helps, yoga keeps them at a minimum.

Anyone else struggle with big man made berms? I consider myself a decent mountain biker I’ve been riding for 10 years, I’ve ridden in Moab, AR, CO and VT.
Mostly in the woods with roots and rocks.
Yesterday was my first time on completely machine made downhill trail with a ton of big berms and I was struggling, felt like a beginner. I’m assuming I wasnt leaning in enough and trusting my tires.

Anyone else have this same experience?
    Any quick tips?

How you like the Zeb over the 36? Assuming you also added 10 mm to the front.

No tips really, but you are not alone. I'm getting better at them since they are a feature of a lot of the trails around here, but they don't really occur in nature so were not a part of my riding for a long time. All I can think is to trust the berm to carry you around the corner, don't over steer the bike. Try to start lined up with the berm arc and in the middle. I tended to try to turn the corner as well as ride the berm, which takes you off line, or enter it at a bad angle, which tends to want to send you over the top either at the beginning or end of the berm depending on the angle.

yea theres a blue i think at crested butte bike park that i thought should be called wall street because the berms felt like vertical walls and it was so hard to ride but was also wet af when i was there and my crank was bent and wasnt really a good day for me anyway.

but yea, im not great at big berms

Quick and simple but works: light hands, heavy feet, downward pressure on inside grip to initiate turn then push down on outside grip to drive front tire into the berm, and look further ahead……..further…….even further
