Yea it's not connected to our HSA or medical benefits, it can't be used for medical expenses or child care, but can be used for almost anything else. People have been using it for pelotons, fitness watches, cell phones, camping equipment, the list goes on and on. But if I time it right I can get $3k before the bike arrives at the LBS.

I just ordered that same fork yesterday. I went through Active Junky too, but nothing was showing up in my credits after I bought it. Does it take some time? I think I checked a few hours after I bought the fork.
I thought maybe it didn’t work on sale items, but I bought a full price skewer too, and there was zero in my active junky account. This is the first time I have ever used it.

Update, it looks like it didn’t recognize my order. I wonder if my work internet security jacked it up somehow

it should up a little bit after I submitted the order. I clicked the active junky link and searched for the fork then added it all in the same window. If it was in your cart before the you click the shop now link it won't work.

there is a good chance if your work blocks any browser data then it won't work. I'm not really sure how they pass the data from the site but it is probably a cookie of some sort (if I had to guess).

Let's be honest here, assuming brand new headsets, no one can feel the difference in how their handlebars rotate. I think the only real benefit of an expensive headset is longevity. A nice headset can be moved from bike to bike and last forever with some basic maintenance. Cheap ones tend to fall apart and you replace them.

    Could be the saddle...?

You’ll get an email from AJ if the order processes through them. No email would typically mean something didn’t jive.

Just picked up a set of studded Bontrager Gnarwhals for the fat bike. I know, it’ll be a while until the snow flies but dammit I’ll be ready when it does!

I just stuck a hellbender 70 in my trail bike like a week ago. Only went that route because PNW things.. A cheapo headset will only me last 3-6mo on average. Time will tell if this one goes longer.. I can definitely say that grease they use in these is some thick stuff. You can barely move the bearings by hand. Can't notice it on the bike though. The sealing looks pretty good, fingers crossed.

Check out Rocky Mounts. That’s what I have. I don’t want anything touching or attaching to my frame. They have some mounts that use the channel. You do have to remove the front wheel though.

almost forgot to mention, looks like they updated it since I bought mine but I had to flip a pice on the bed around to make it fit properly. They don’t show it on the instructions anymore so maybe the new version doesn’t require it.

I exclusively use phil wood if I'm servicing a bearing.

Probably a dumb question, but I’ll ask.

What are the drawbacks/limitations to running a 29er fork on a 27.5 frame with 27.5 wheels?
And same question the other way…can you run a 27.5 fork on a 29er frame with 29 wheels?

Is one more doable than the other? My small brain makes me think the 29er fork would be the more ‘universal’ of the two and could theoretically be used on either wheel size/frame.

It mostly comes down to axle to crown distances and how it will affect the front end. It will have an effect on the geometry - head angle, stack/reach, bb height and wheelbase.

Edit: To answer your question I have run a 29er fork on 27.5 bikes - visibly there is a larger gap between fork arch and tire. I dont think most 27.5 forks will clear a 29er wheel/tire.

29’er fork on a 27.5 frame may result in a shorter travel fork also. My bike, in the size I bought is available as a 27.5 with a 150mm travel fork or a 29’r with a 140mm travel fork. You could obviously get a 29’r fork with 150mm travel but, as mentioned above, just messes with geometry.
