I did some internet dredging to find what I could on them. They seem like a solid pick. I'm coming from alloy bars so it'll be a whole new world regardless... I may have to give them a go

I'm running the wolf tooth lever now and it is much better than the oneup I was running. It is so smooth.

I went to UT in the late nineties and was there in 1998 when we beat Florida in OT and stormed the field at Neyland Stadium. Words can't really describe that level of collective happiness and positive energy. I still have a piece of that goalpost in my office! Seeing the events unfold last week against Bama brought me back to that experience and I know those kids will remember it for the rest of their lives. Truly awesome stuff!

Now we just need to do the same thing against UGA next weekend. #GOVOLS! :headbang:

I bumped into a friend who just bought one. He's getting used to it coming from a 2 gen old now Nomad.

His reasoning for the new bike was he needed something easier to backpack all of his camera gear with.
He did say he's faster in tech on the Nomad, but this just saves his legs and heart rate.

Depending on what you want or need if Backcountry has it in stock it's cheaper through them since Canadian shipping is so expensive.
Also couple that with some Cash Back, ActiveJunky

It's crazy how location changes trail ratings so much.
It's definitely fair to do it that way, but people traveling have to remember it as well.

Rode with a born and bred Pisgah local a few years ago who had some interesting perspective. Imagine all the rutted, v-ed out, root exposed, and intimidating trails before the hoards of tire traffic was drawn to the Ranger District. That’s where a lot of the ratings come from and haven’t been updated.

He remembers riding the original Black Mtn trails on a rigid 26 with cantilever brakes and it was a non-event according to him. Says it was closer to a bike path than what it became. Makes sense but having started riding there only 6 or so years ago it’s hard to envision what it was like 25 or so years ago.

This actually makes total sense when thought about in that perspective.

Last dry week of perfect riding weather was ruined by smoke from several local fires. I'm down with some rain though as the trails were blown out dust at this point. Plus there's nothing like some slick leaf and greasy roots to get your attention. I don't mind the wet, just not if it's mixed with cold, wind, etc..

Also just got the Conti Kryptotals to try.(for the trail bike not the eeb) I was hoping to figure them out on the dry first. Guess we'll be sending them in the wet. Feeling pretty confident based on looks alone. I'll be sure to post up on that when it happens..

Funny you mention that, I came to that same conclusion. Was going to order directly from WAO, but they wanted $70 to ship. Ordered through Backcountry with the cash back from ActiveJunky to save myself some money. Initial price through Backcountry is a little higher but free shipping and cash back make the deal. Still a LOT cheaper than ordering direct.

I've ridden almost every Pivot and I find they generally pedal really well for their category. Pivot typically makes stiff and efficient bikes. If the Switchblade is the right travel for you, then it's gonna be a great ride! You could also check out the Trail 429 if you're looking for something a little shorter travel.

Pivot makes great bikes and you can't go wrong with them. I personally enjoy a more playful bike and find them to be a bit too "serious" in their riding characteristic (if that even makes sense).

This is an interesting take and one I've not heard before!

In most areas I ride, it seems that trails have become easier over time. I'm not sure if this is because there has been more trail building activities that have smoothed out difficult features or if bikes have just gotten so much better. Either way, I can't think of any trail that has become harder over time...
