E-bikes and value have never been in the same sentence. Logic doesn't apply with these things and you are exactly right about work-from-home enduro dads that only ride on Saturdays "with the boys" lolol

Well son of a.. guess it’s time to embrace electro scooter life. My average ride is around 10-15 miles and I usually only ride on the weekends because I have a full time job (not from home). I don’t ride with the “boys” because I like to ride by myself and all of my “boys” are out of shape. Only have one of my “boys” I enjoy riding with.

I don’t call my friends bro or boys and I don’t yell “yo”, “yeah”, “dude” or “yeow” every time a tire leaves the ground so maybe that’s my saving grace?

If nobody could mistake you for a California surfer boy then you aren’t mountain biking right.

    or something like that.

says the recently dad that hasn’t biked in over a year.

that also can’t afford an e bike lol

So much of this I can relate to. Work/fam life allows all of zero time to ride any day other than Saturday or Sunday.

If I’m not on a group TW outing, I’m solo. And those TW outings are extremely seldom. Now that I say that, it sounds like I don’t have friends. Which I supposed is true to a degree. At least not friends that ride bikes :notsure:

I love mountain biking. Have been doing it more than half of my life, but man I hate the culture. The clique culture of climbers is why I don’t climb anymore. Mountain biking has gotten just as bad. I ride bikes because they’re fun, not to impress anyone.

The culture does seem to be very hit or miss. There are tons of very cool, relaxed bikers out there... But then there's the dickwad in his full getup on his fancy new S-Works trying to KOM times down a trail my 7 yr old could navigate like it's a lifetime accomplishment!

Exact reason I never got involved with my local MTB group. The culture is toxic.

they all say “ride what ya brung” but then if you don’t have the latest most expensive shit they don’t really care to talk to you. Then if you don’t train and ride daily like folks with no jobs and you cant ride 18+ miles without taking a break or you can’t absolutely send it over gnarly gaps then you’re just not a mountain biker.

I also just hate when hobbies become about cost/money at all…

i started watching these but got to the unbound episode and started questioning if i saw it before or not. it seemed really familiar when they started talking about the aero bar thing and people didnt want it but others didnt care and it was really messing with peoples mentality on whether it was a fun ride or a race. i couldn't have seen that particular video since it came out days before, unless they took it down and relisted it. but i also watch tons of videos about cycling so who can really say?

ive kind of been watching outside's path to leadville series. they took pretty entry riders, sponsored their training plans and gave them bikes and lessons and fly them places all to prep for leadville 100. seems a little more approachable for an average person.

but that lifetime series is intense.

Agreed. Long overdue. You and @Bannerman had to go and start families which kinda put the kibosh on the trips seeing as you two did a great job organizing the shenanigans in the first place.

Good folks combined with mountains, bikes, and camping most always results in a good time.

@mrtonyd looks like med wheel and the city have adopted Captain Morgans. They also took part in a large project on Red Rock Open Space that’s finally coming together. Sounds like a bunch of compromises were made for it.

I saw the updates about red rocks but didn't see anything about captain Morgans. I wonder how much was compromised. It's awesome to see captain Morgans become official. That might be the most gnarly official trail around now
