Thank you all for your insight, I feel like I have a solid answer now haha

Awesome! I see you have the aluminum version, I was mainly considering the carbon version since it seems like an awesome deal at the price...but the aluminum one is even better deal haha. I may consider the aluminum one, I just don't know about an almost 40lb bike in a size large haha

It’s a heavy bike when you’re picking it up and moving it around, but it doesn’t feel heavy on the trail. I came from a Slash 9.8 all carbon everything and, initially, I could feel the difference. I don’t notice the weight anymore. It did take a bit to get used to the aggressive geo, but again, now it just feels normal. My only real complaints with it are the super low BB and the Fox X2. Because I’m using it as a do everything bike, I get the compromises I’m making. I strike pedals and cranks a lot on super techy climbs. The Fox X2 has also never felt very supportive no matter what adjustments I’ve made. When climbing it feels like you’re sitting very low/squatty in the bike. Even with the climb switch on firm.

I’ve thought about going to a more trail oriented bike. Then I jump on this thing and it brings a huge smile to my face. It’s just a fun bike. In the end, that’s all that matters to me.

Hopefully that all makes some sense.

@113tac I also had the choice between the GX Carbon and this XT Alloy when I bought it. It’s only about a 3 lb difference between the bikes, which to me is negligible for the type of bike it is. The raw alloy with the Fox factory just looks so damn good I’ll take the marginal weight penalty.

Good to know! Thanks, I may save some money and put that towards some parts swapping haha. I'd probably go GX either way, I haven't ridden new shimano stuff but at this point, I run GX on all my bikes, including my gravel bike and see no reason to switch it up, plus I love my pike ultimate on my ripley and can only imagine I will enjoy the Zeb Ultimate just as much...I also am intrigued by those TRP DHR-Evo brakes haha

    Even better!
The RS just keeps the price point a little more in check.

This is the first XT bike I’ve had since my Yeti 575 back in the day. Been running SRAM ever since. I’m very happy with the Shimano drivetrain and brakes. The shop I bought this from was willing to swap the SRAM stuff from the carbon to my alloy, but I decided to just run it.

To be clear, I was referring to them being offsetted between rows like this.

Looks like it should, just wondering if you've mounted them this way.

I’d say a friend was looking for a budget aggressive hard tail frame, generally meant for 140-160 travel fork, what would you guys have at the tip of the list? Preferably 27.5 flavor but that’s not a requirement necessarily. Again, asking for a friend :anonymous:

I forgot about Marin’s San Quentin. GxG is out, definitely not budget friendly.
The Nukeproof Scout and Commencal Meta HT are top of my list so far, err ummm my friend’s list.

Received Monday, maiden voyage tonight, just 5 quick miles all asphalt through the neighborhood twice. Just what I wanted it for. Not enough time to ride trials, but still want some cycling cardio bam, this is the bike. Crazy picking up a 20lbs bike when I’m sure my arrival is around 35lbs.

Shifting is weird, and the horns or whatever are comfortable to use, but I think I’ve got the bar too angled up for the drops. Idk when to even use drops. Lol

You may be surprised how much more control you have when things get a little “rowdy” by getting in the drops. I sure am.
