I wore my plain YT logo shirt to school last week and the number of students that came to tell me their parents went to VT was crazy.
I had to explain that it's a bike brand and that I'm trying to build excitement for bike to school day.

Careful, VT's trademark people are a little zealous about that. YT better watch their back!

For anyone else who got in on the Chain Reaction Cycles Hayes Dominion sale.

I received my brakes on Saturday.

They do not come with the second set of pads or an olive/barb combo.

Spoke with Hayes tech support today. These brakes are an OE version (I think it says this somewhere on the CRC page) and have some specific setup instructions for them. There is a quick disconnect on the rear hose that just plugs into the master cylinder. I attached the instructions from Hayes for the setup.

Additionally, Hayes is transitioning from a single piece olive/bard to a more popular two piece but don't have either in stock currently so unless you can find some of the old ones, don't cut your brake lines.

They were supposed to be receiving the 160-203mm adapters late last week, so he expects them to show up as available on the website any time now. If you are like me and ordered the wrong size, looks like Hope adapters or North Shore Billet adapters will work.

Fairly standard. I don't think it has to do with much else besides "I have to go to work on Monday". That changes my decision making quite a bit.

That and potentially being off the bike for weeks/months over a 5-30 second of trail.

The blacks never disappoint. My on bike fitness is trash and I am still 0 for 4 on riding in the dry there, but what a f*ing ride. Pisgah is a beautiful and fickle bitch.

Forgot to start recording until I was already on Avery Creek Rd. The rain moved in as the descending began so taking pictures became low priority.

I was looking at Esker a month ago or so. I was looking at their hardtails, not FS. I found one at a local shop and honestly was not impressed. I don't know why, the bike just seemed "cheap." And this was on a $3500 hardtail with a good build. It was an Esker Japhy (steel). I don't have any real knowledge of their FS carbon bikes, so don't take my experience as the end-all.

@guitarjamman has one as a rental now. Give him a few days, I'm sure he'll give you his $0.02. Saw pictures of it, looks like a nice machine!

Washed the Calling today. Noticed some cracking in my paint. A Cement Evil may be closer in my future than I’d hoped.

I've been on the hardtail quest all winter, but more for a bikepacking rig than trail riding. I rode a lot of stuff and was most impressed with the Salsa Timberjack, Surly Krampus and Gunshot's Sirius Pipedream. Also, a buddy has the Commencal Meta HT and that thing is pretty awesome, too.

I started leaning more into the drop-bar steel-frame bikes. I rode lots of stuff but one bike really stood out and just spoke to me. I picked it up on Saturday...a Rawland Ulv. Fully rigid steel frame. Designed for bikepacking and touring. I can't wait to get it all set up.

    Amazing setup!

I've heard from big time bikepackers they love steel because it can get fixed pretty much anywhere in the world. those tires make it look a little more plush to ride than a normal rigid too.
