I was Shimano americas graphic designer last year and had time behind and infront of the Di2 stuff via being there. IT's really fucking awesome if you run 2X. Its cool on 1X for the trim adjustment and dump shifting, but beyond that all the really rad features are lost on the front chainring.

I think I will also be going carbon with my wheels. I love my chris king hubs so I think when it's time I'll reuse them again with carbon rims this time, and go pretty wide too.

Finishing up another Evil build for Shimano/Pinkbike Chairty Auction. Last year they raffled a Undead off and raised 58K to help support families going through cancer treatment. Im taking it into the studio Friday to shoot it so they can get fundraiser going. I'll post a link here when it's live. $5/ticket for a chance to win Evil/Fox/Shimano complete.IMG_0434.jpg

I just use a cargo bar with fork mounts. The cargo bar comes in handy for securing loads as well. I have approx $85 invested in it.

Anyone else here have the Yakima HoldUp hitch rack? Pretty frustrated that the wheel trays sit just high enough that you can't open the tailgate without it resting on the rack. My truck is black, it's instant scratches if I drop the tailgate. Love the rack otherwise, but I think it needs to go back. Does anyone have the Thule T2, do you know if it sits low enough that you can lower the tailgate all the way with no bikes on it?

I looked at receiver droppers, but seems like a lot of engineering to make a rack work when I've been told that the Thule sits a little lower and the tailgate won't hit it.

That thing looks awesome. Specs? XT build? I hate how everything on that is externally routed but that's how my Niner is too. It does make for easy repairs though

You should check out Kuat. I have the NV 2.0 and my uncle has the Sherpa 2.0. With the Sherpa 2.0, your wheel trays actually fold down so they're flush with the rack. With the NV 2.0, they're a little more recessed so they aren't pushed out too much and my guess is you wouldn't have problems with the tailgate. If you wanted to have the +2 bike carrier to make it a total of 4 bike carrier, my recommendation would be the NV 2.0 since it gives you the option of adding the two extra bikes. It also has a build in repair stand which I found is easy to use when spraying off the bike after riding.

I'm pretty familiar with both of those Kuats so if you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

Well I was Shimano America's graphic designer, I still freelance design for them and I shot and built last years bike and am doing the same today with this years.

personally I prefer as little internally routed shit as possible. finishing lines in/out when you want to change something is a pita. Like the fox dropper as any slack in the line while setting up pulls the ferrule out of the guide on the bottom of the dropper.

@blackohio That is awesome!! I used to live in Seattle and worked in the bike shop at REI. I miss being in the mix of things. Keep up the good work!
