Decided to actually pick up the Chameleon today since its been at the shop forever.

I decided to use some spare parts I have to build a DJ bike, so the tires on the Chameleon now seem like they need more knobs since it will likely no longer see street use, but they look good for now. I already have a sweet fork and brakes for a nice DJ bike build that will look good next this, but jump a whole lot nicer.

Specialist doctor claims probably two more weeks before back to mostly normal, so neighborhood rides only.

I've had one for 2ish years. Maybe it is a novelty but I really like it. If I ever get a new bike I would put another one on for sure.

I don't remember it being overly expensive so I think it's worth a try. It's always fun to try something new out on a bike anyways.

Don't get too wrapped up in some of the hype you read on the internet about them and I don't think you will regret it.

Just getting back into biking more for exercise than anything else. Just got back into roadracing motorcycles after a 16 year layoff and now I need to get back into shape. My 25+ year old GT is not even worth resurrecting due to how ancient it is by today's standards. With the help of a guy at work we have been searching the used market and came up with this:
    IMG_1598.jpg

Full carbon frame, upgraded forks etc etc. I am more a motorcycle guy so the specs are mostly lost on me. I used to do most of my training on a trials motorcycle which is more of a workout that most people realize. Still have my Beta but things are so flat and no real public lands to run where I now live. So back to pedal power it is.

Now here is where I need some help. My bed is usually empty so the question is do I go with a hitch mounted rack or a bed mounted rack? I am not cash strapped but I am not going to spend for gold plated parts if they aren't nessecary. I have just about every kind of welder in my garage so making my own rack is a strong possibility as well. I have seen some nice mounts for the top of tonneau's so I could realistically make a nice aluminum crossbar for this to mount to and then to the bed rails. Any suggestions or just buy THIS or THAT would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. As a side note any questions about specs or details of my new machine are going to be lost on me. If I need to know certain details of the bike before you can offer a suggestion I plead stupidity. This is more bike than I need but WTF it is only money. Pick it up Saturday.

Rode a couple hrs with my buddy at white Clay creek state park in Delaware today. Perfect SS 29'er trails. Fast and flowy. The skills course is a blast too. Def got our hearts pumpin. Lol.

-Marin Pine Mt. SS 29'er (brand new ground control 1.9 tires and brand new Shimano XT Brakes just installed).

The 29'er fits perfectly standing up in the bed of the SB Taco diagonal and with a couple tie downs on the bars.

Good looking set up but dam that tie down system seems a bit tedious...?

LOL, it does kinda look insane cuz they are so damn long and I wrapped the excess around the bike but it really only takes a Minuit or two. One strap to each side of the handlebars and the other side to the D ring and front mounting ring on the other side. Voila. Ready to hit the trials and ultra secure.

When I ran to the shop the other day to pick the bike up after having the XT's installed I realized the bike does fit laid down in the back if you twist the handlebars and put the front tire behind the cab pointing straight up, no issues. But style points go to having the bike stand straight up.:headbang:Haha!

    Nice KTM!!

I ride a 2014 Suzuki V Strom 1000 hooked up with crash bars, skid plate, knobbies, and all the essentials. Love it.

    IMG_2481.jpg

I haven't got the balls up yet to see if I can fit it in the bed diagonal with the tailgate down yet. LOL

Nice I never got into the dual sport stuff but they are bad ass! I have a friend that started the company ALTRIDER out of washington and its all about parts and accessories for that style of riding. Also that is a very old bike I was about 19 or 20. Here is my current KTM the 250xc W.

Unreal scenery. I would move out the big sky country tomorrow if I could.. Tacoma and Dirt bike / Dual sport paradise! I'm jealous. Sadly my knobbies see more tarmac than dirt now a days. Philly sucks.

That 250 is a beast! Enjoy.

Altrider you say, i've purchased more than a few parts from them for my old BMW GSA.Quality stuff.

White clay is cool place to ride! I was in Delaware for 4 months last year for work I rode there 3 or 4 days a week, not real challenging, but alot of fun.

It's is fun and super flowy and the occasional man made obstacle added into the mix keeps it interesting. Like I mentioned earlier it's perfect for a Single speed like I ride and I go balls to the wall. Some of the longer climbs are a kick in the ass on a SS but I'm not in perfect shape...yet. Lol.

I was going to mention BioPace but figured you young'uns wouldn't know what I was talking about. I still have and ride my '89 Bridgestone that came with oval chain rings, but they got replaced at least 20 years ago. I hear top mount shifters are making a comeback too; oops never mind, that must be a dropper control.

You should check out the new swing away rocky mounts hitch rack. I think they make an adapter to convert other racks too. You can't go wrong with the tilt function of the 1up racks though too.
