Yup. I murdered myself on Limelight a few weeks ago. Same thing. Hit the kitty litter and down I went.

    not enough.
Mine was on the last bit of Levitate. That first jump on the new section at the end. Either the wind caught me or I landed awkwardly...probably both. and totally went down. Good ringer. No broken bones so...more riding! hahaha.

My DVO fork has a notch in the back of the crown for getting a screwdriver in to remove the race. A wide and broad screwdriver can be used to start it, and then move around the face slowly and carefully to remove it completely. I’ve done it a few times because $8 for a replacement race is much better then 250 for a puller.

I also have this 1/2” pvc pipe from Home Depot.

perfect size for setting a crown race. Some need a 1/2” coupler to get the size matched, but my cane creek 110 is good with just the pipe. cost about $10 for the pipe, cap on top, and coupler.

I've had good luck removing and installing them this way too.

My factory 36 has that notch you reference, but my old fork didn't and it was NOT coming off. Bike shop barely got it even with the fancy Park tool.

i think it would really be difficult without the notch. I can see where the fancy tool is required

Slow day huh? Well since nothing else is going on, I'm going to talk about locks again in case anyone is interested or has input. Just bought a big ass chain and I'm planning to purchase a ground anchor and mount it to the side of the bed (with a steel backing plate) and probably a Kryptonite U-lock for lockup (which will be handy for commuting too). This setup should keep my bike in place for the odd dinner on the road etc and require some time with a hacksaw or angle grinder to get it free. Goal was to go one step further than stopping a quick grab thief and hamper even the slightly motivated thief that has some basic bolt cutters or keep a hacksaw busy a while. I was thinking about a big D-ring anchor but this is cheaper and should work well.

I might slap some new brakes on it but that's a lot of bike for the money.

That's what I'm sayin'! Cheap enough to only ride a few times a year...or jump off a short bus
