Changed the G-One tires for Rocket Rons and took the bike to the real dirt. This bike is fun for sure.

Picked this up last week. I’ve been having problems riding my drop bar bikes. After about a half an hour I am ready to get off, but I can spend a couple hours on my mountain bike sitting upright. I’m hoping this will be the ticket to get out more often. I don’t need to go fast anymore.

Nice looking bike! Not sure if it's the photo angle (or headtube angle) but it doesn't look like there's much toe clearance there. For what it's worth, I too was getting sore on my road bike though I can ride my 29-er all day off road, so I switched to flat bars (with new shifters and brake levers) on my carbon Trek road bike. After narrowing the bars a bit the riding position feels just right ... like a light stiff MTB. And I put in 210 miles over three days on it a few weeks ago, including one 90 mile day, and though I did have some aches and pains my arms/neck wrists weren't sore. Best mod I ever made, though if I buy some wide carbon rims for my Tallboy I could mount skinny road tires on my old i19's and have one bike do it all with just a wheel swap.

    Thanks!
There isn’t any toe overlap. I’ve got a Salsa Vaya (steel) that has that issue. I’ve also got a Vaya Ti that I got a sweet deal on a year ago. It’s disappointing that I am having trouble getting comfortable on it. I thought about converting the steel bike to flat bars, but I was worried I’d have to run a super long stem to get the geometry right. Also, the steel bike is a bit whippy when I have the trail-a-bike hooked up and my 6yo in tow. I thought about getting a cheap 29er and setting it up for the road, but I figured this was a better solution, in the end.

It’s a Surly Ogre, by the way...

My bike that I converted to flat bars is a Trek Domane. I didn't change the stem, the grips of the flat bars are a little behind (closer to headtube) and wider than the hoods which I normally positioned my hands on with the drops, but overall the handling feels fine ... any possible geometry-induced instability is compensated by my feeling more comfortable and in control with those he flat bars. At least that's how I feel now :)

Come to one of the Alumni Football watching parties. Usually held in SLC and sometimes in PC. Good turnout most times! (you can find us on FB pretty easy)

I was MTBing in PC this summer and had 4 (FOUR!) VT people park directly next to me. Gotta rep it when you can!

Nice Bike. Gonna kick it Rootdown!! So far I'm loving my all mountain hardtail... the plus size tires kinda make up for no rear squish. The weight just helps you get going fast on the downs

and yes @ccallen bikes and Tacos do go well together! Nice thread!

Funny, I've only seen 1 'hoo sticker, but like 20 VT stickers (mostly in PC actually).

If you ever see me (or my truck) around, come say hi!
