I kinda meant more like the slight geometry changes. I somewhat understand how the fork should respond and whatnot, but like the reach, the bar height, etc type things like what should I feel? oh no leaning back too far and can't get forward, etc..

ahhhh. probably feel for more how it feels pedaling uphill. do you feel more power transfer to the wheels? (seat tube angle makes this difference). Do you feel like your back is overstretching trying to reach the handlebars? (reach) or do you feel like you can bend your elbows plenty before worrying about if your back is too stretched? difference in feel is between reaching too far for your barsand feeling like you're on a rice rocket vs yoru hands are too close to you and you're practically upright. you want something int he middle. but find what's comfortable for YOU.
head tube angle + fork offset will generate a different steering feel. feel how it does on slow speed steering. also, wider handlebars will make it feel more dump trucky and shorter stem will make it feel more twitchy. so those are all factors to cosnider with steering.
If at the end of your ride, you feel like your hands are killing you, saddle angle might not be right or the bar height migth be too low. It means you're putting more weight on your hands so they'll hurt. Grips might also make a difference here to they're a factor. (I tried different grips on my bike and absolutely hated them so i switched back to my old ones)

ok cool thanks for the info.

only thing that changed is fork travel, offset, and now bar height with the longer steerer tube. which in turn affects the things like reach and such. just didn't know how much I should be able to feel the less than 1" difference in all of that stuff.

If you're paying attention, you'll feel it. 1 mm on a bike is 1 meter on the trail. yeah, if it's higher you'll feel like your hands/arms are much closer to your body. and the steering feel will be a bit different. not necessarily bad unless you jacked it up pretty bad.

@BajaAsh Once it cools down a little, wanna meet up and we can hit thunder Mountain or something? It'd be good to meet some more Utah homies.

Everything @ginseng27 wrote is true but I tend to think it's easiest to just say "how does it feel?" If you can provide feedback like... It feels squished, stretched, bumpy, vague, slow steering, twitchy steering, etc. then I'm sure plenty of people on here will be able to help you make adjustments.

Also, it sounds like you're doing this, but I'd recommend getting the cockpit setup first. Once you feel comfortable with the riding position, you can tune the fork to your liking.

I had it all setup with my previous fork, and nothing changed on the handlebars aside from obviously they're closer to me lol, but I will be adjusting and playing with everything a good bit.

Order of favorite to least favorite of all of these
    1. Blow hard (when I have a shuttle partner)
    2. C-trail to southview (C->Highlands->Green hollow->Lavaflow) This ones such a diverse trail
    3. Lava flow
    4. Black ops (new jumpline is fast and flowy but the rest is pedal strikes galore and a rattle fest for your arms)
    5. literally anything else
    .
    .
    .
999,999. Lichin it (only cause I hate to pedal FKN uphill :puke:)

If any of you bastards are in Cedar, hit me up I'm always looking for new riding buddies!
ALSO Im trying to get to Moab toward the middle of the month if anyone's there or wants to meet up!

Sorry, by cockpit, I mean the handlebar height and not just brake/shifter lever positioning. You now have a bigger axle-to-crown height and you've moved you're handlebars up higher on the headtube it sounds like. I'm just saying get settled on where your handlebars are gonna be, then tweak lever angles as needed, and worry about the fork tuning last as that is affected by your body position over the fork.

It sounded like this was your plan, so I can mind my own business!

Look at these beautiful pictures from my ride saturday!

100% we should meet up! Also, isn't the goal to pass out mid ride in +100 degree heat? ya know... for fun?
