LOL, that semi who tried to drive up Guardsman Pass. What a terrible decision.

Yeah. No joke. I saw pictures of it from friends and was confused how he made some of those turns to begin with...

That's pure insanity. The pucker factor on that road in normal vehicles is already maxed out.

Is there any video of that colossal mistake? Any good articles?

Just a picture. He got stuck on the second switchback out of like a thousand. There was a fire on I-80 that shut down Parley's Canyon, so the only other route was +100 miles down to midway and back up.

Do it! Taking apart, cleaning, and re-greasing bottom bracket and headset are two maintenance items many people don't seem to do. It's not too hard and so important to maintaining a bike. So satisfying too.

Checking chain stretch regularly is the one other item I think a lot of people overlook.

Alright homies. Who here has ridden Mammoth Bike Park?

I'll be up there this week, and will do one, maybe one and a half days at the park, so I need some recommendations on trails to hit!

(I guess I'm "advanced" I can do a lot of techy downhill, I like fast and flowy, what I can't really do is mandatory airs, things like gap jumps and the like.)

Any recommendations for how to handle a day there?

    No Brakes, Full send.

I have no meaningful contribution to add specific to Mammoth :D

I hear the cool kids are chainless too, which really helps encourage the other two points.

isn't there a sign at the mouth of the canyon that tells you weight limits and stuff? That should've been an indicator to that driver, right?

Yeah I’ve done it on my other bike, just wanted to have all the right products haha. I used the ol red and tacky I use on my vehicles to do that old bike.

there's tools for it. or you can put slack in your chain and then check how much it moves back and forth. or you can lift the chain a little bit on the chain ring and see how far it comes off.

Most surefire way is to use a tool. Most shops should check it for you for free. 1x drivetrains tend to need it a little earlier than you'd expect so keep that in mind.

beast. unfortunately I'm not Aaron Gwin, so I would undoubtedly fuck something up, which would require to me pedal again to pick some speed back up, so I need a chain to maintain speed... lol
