I'm super passionate about it. So while I'm no rich man, I scrape together enough to go as often as I can afford. It's at the expense of other things though, instead of going out with friends for food and drinks (well, at least in the before time) I would save that money for weekend ski trips. Instead of going to Snow Summit to MTB, I go to my local trail to save money. I hope to eventually move to a ski town, where its more accessible, and I don't have to choose as much between skiing and other things.

I was a ski bum working as a lift op for a while too, and now even more than at that time, you have to be rich, or devote your life to it. Less and less people are fitting into those two camps though. Kind of a bummer.

Yup - apparently he only put on 10 miles or so. Either way, solid deal especially with tubes. Who needs two Schwalbe Rocket Ron Performance 27.5 x 2.25?

It sucks in Bend because day passes are $100 and a season pass is roughly $1400 for my age. Working a normal schedule means I can only get up in weekends when every tourists and their mom is up at the mountain too. Passes only seem to be worth it if you can ski mid week.

Now the question becomes...do I roll with dual High Rollers or keep the Rocket Ron on the rear?

The High Rollers are 2.4 and the Rockets are 2.25. Hmm...

Surprised zero responses today. Is my range too low? Too narrow?

Any opinion of this model Stumpjumper?

I'll stop pestering you guys. Thanks.

Yo man so sorry. Not sure how I missed that. :DUH: :homer: Almost like I missed that whole page.

27.5" is perfect for me. Being a stumpy guy 29" is just huge. Will look at Giant (wife is looking at LIV) Thanks - great information!

Try just the high roller in the front and see how it goes, less work that way too haha. I also recommend tubeless!
cant go wrong with a stumpy. Not the fanciest components but they will do the job. The only real thing I don’t like about it is the brakes.

That’s what I settled on for now. Surprisingly my wheels aren’t tubeless ready, but may buy the tape and try the DIY method as I’ve done previously.

Gorilla tape, also I left my tape at work unfortunately when I was mailing something off. Anyways I had a leak and wanted bike to be ready for tomorrow. I used this tape I got on sale at Costco. There’s enough for two wheels and I think it’s the best tape I’ve ever used.

It’s was the tape out of a $10 flex seal kit. It’s kinda rubberish, but thin and light.

anyways first time wrapping a rim worked.

ooooh. dependso n what you're riding i guess. rocket rons 2.25 woudl be nice for low rolling resistance but might make going up some tech a bit trickier.

Will explore some options. I bought some tape for my old bike, but the combination of the wheels and tires I was using made it hell.

Saw the same combination mentioned elsewhere. Will go that route if I’m not quite happy with the current combo.

Good point. Will get to test it a bit more once I can get out. Next up...fixing my lockout lever or simply removing it.
