@levie125 hit my point. With all the proprietary stuff to deal with outside of it, not worth it. If one thing goes wrong (hub or fork) you’re cornered and need to buy from a limited number of options OR pay up again to get the second component that you don’t need to replace (IE if the hub is jacked but the fork isn’t, you need to replace the hub. But if you don’t want to deal with the proprietary stuff you need to replace both now).

Spoil away! I won't see if for another week, and you deserve all the credit.

    One gratuitous pic at least?

Question for the group: I'm looking for a bike computer/speedometer. I'm fed up with the cheapie $19.99 ones that work for a month and a PIA to set, and I'm not sure I can really justify $500+ for a good mapping GPS unit (I ride a bike, I'm not a cyclist, if you take my meaning). 'Must have' features: Waterproof, speedometer, clock, odometer. 'Nice to haves': Backlight, temp, trip meter.

    not enough.
Check out Lezyne computers. Small form factor. has just about everything you're looking for at an affordable price. syncs up with Strava and their own cloud systme to store your rides.

waterproof, check. speedometer, check (granted, it's GPS based and not wheel sensor based). clock, check. odometer...not really. but that's why I have it sync with strava, so I tell strava which bike I rode and it'll keep track of my mileage for me.

backlight, automatic. check. temperature, sorta check. I've noticed it's not SUPER accurate. trip meter. check.

It takes a second to understand how all their buttons work and what every feature is but you can setup everything through your phone isntead of on the unit itself so that's a plus. :)

edit: for a little more money, you can get a starter Garmin or a wahoo elemnt bolt

also edit: I have a mini gps. stated runtime is 10 hours but getting 10 hours out of it is reallys tretching it...that's assuming you have it at a perfect 100%. Which it never is. It seems to only like to charge up to about 90-95% and then quickly drops to about 80% before going to a normal burndown. I can get 2 or 3 rides out of it before it dies but I'm usually charging it every day during the summers so there's that. the bigger lezyne's have 24 hours battery runtime so they'll probably do a lot better on that front. just an observation from an owner. :)

I use an wahoo element bolt. Love it. Use it mostly when road riding but I’ve also been using it mtb lately.

Might be time to invest in a good tail gate pad. Two Norco Storms in the bed (one 27.5, other 29er), Specialized hardrock closest to truck (26"), Vitus Mythique on outside of rack (27.5). Sure glad I went with the double cab

    I'm so excited! :goingcrazy:

Now to pick out some shiny new pedals for it, probably start with a fresh set of grips too.

:fingerscrossed: Hope we can get a ride in!

I'll probably head down to Junction after to stay with my buddy and ride Sunday. Break it in on Horsethief or something fun. :D

    Thanks again!

half of my coworkers run Trailforks or similar with smart watches. I use Gaia no smart watch.

well, if your willing to have a bike shipped, The "Vitus" brand of bikes does offer each bike in either 27.5 or 29er (I personally bought a large 27.5 2020 vitus mythique VR, bottom level of range), A top end 2021 mythique would run ya right around $2000, if you can manage to find it in stock. Marin also offers 27.5 bikes, but also budget minded. Both brands known for bang for buck componentry

Dang dude I think who you successfully gotten hooked on this mountain biking thing

What were your experiences with Knoxville?
They're neat. Super stiff and great for climbing but alas you would need to fully commit to the Lefty life to justify it

Would I pay $1900 for the X01 kit, no, would I pay $1000 for the upgrade kit, no as well.

However for what little I gave to get all new groupset, except crankset as I gave buyer the new 175mm and kept the 170s, I'd do it on every bike.
The cassette weight difference is huge (in your hands, never notice on trail) from GX to X01, I also think without the rings being riveted together and one solid piece makes a difference shifting is prenominal. Also going from X0 to XX1 chain I think makes a difference, but I can't confirm that since I replaced so much at one time (according to all reviews chains aren't an area to skimp). After spending probably an hour or two messing with the derailleur (first time setting one up) getting it absolutely perfect it is nice. I ran AXS on one ride with the old chain and GX cassette and it did better than the mechanical X01 mech it replaced, then switching cassette and chain I'm just blown away.

Since I came from NX groupset on the Capra I can say it works just fine, no thrills, but also think of how many NX groupsets I can run for just the cost of in the future replacing the cassette and chain.
