Thanks! Worst wreck to date so I’d say I’m pretty lucky.

Convertible helmets tend to weigh a bunch more than the fixed chin guards. I have a TLD Stage, and it's a great "trail full face." But I'd definitely NOT take it to the bike parks, OR have it a as an only helmet.
I've also owned the Bell Super 3R, and it was ok. Just heavy.

POC joint VPD. Best knee pads I've used to date, and have lasted me much longer than any other.

I haven’t visited an actual bike park to date, so a trail full face may be ideal for me.

These? POC, Joint VPD Air Knee Pads, Lightweight Mountain Biking Armor for Men and Women https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01554TEFC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_OpNUFbBPDB2BB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

    Close, but it's these...
Never ridden without them since I got em. Been put to the test way more than I wish they were. Comfortable for all day rides, tough as nails. Been washed more than a dozen times, still good as new.

Not a doc but have stayed at a holiday inn a few times before...

Keep it clean, close with butterfly bandages. The wound being open will allow it to drain/heal from the inside out and mitigate infection.

I had a very similar wound on my wrist from a dog bite recently and that was the advice given to me, and jives with my past experiences in x,y,z medical courses.

    None...

with that wound needing to stay closed I didn’t want to be pedaling that knee at all. Plus the rest of me sort of feels like it got hit by a tree.

you might have changed my mind on my favorite bike color..

edit: also, what grips are those? I like the gray color. I damaged mine pretty good in the crash this weekend and may go away from the yellow..

Most all the colors Transition has been releasing are pretty top shelf IMHO.

anybody else wear the 5.10 Contacts? they look like this on the bottom:

    upload_2020-11-23_8-4-23.jpg

all of the other 5.10s I've seen have the "dots" across the whole sole. I came off my pedals quite a few times this weekend, in situations I definitely should not have and I'm wondering if it's my shoes. they no longer feel sticky to the touch.
