Yeah this is my first time receiving them this way, so I don’t know really. I just know with my tenure I’m getting 50 shares. Max is 100 for like upper management and execs.

Nice choice. The frame and parts have a really nice quality to them for the money spent.

And not the best pic, but their headtube badge is pretty nice as well.

damn that ain’t bad! My company doesn’t offer stock options. Wish it did. They offer a fund of their shares in the retirement plan but not at any sort of benefit to the employees other than tax benefits being in a retirement account vs individual taxable. I could just buy shares on the open market and it would be the same thing.

    50? holy crap.

Also just read a review on company stocks in fool.com, companies do it to make the employees have interest in doing better.

We do still get a profit share based on companies performance for the year. Which even with Covid machinery had a good year. It also allows diversification, but honestly I’d still rather have 50 shares of BA given to me.

Just boasting a little on a personal achievement. 4 months out of a third knee surgery in the past 8 months. And I managed to clean this nice climb on Mormon Loop in Phoenix. Later rode to the waterfall on national trail(south mountains main attention getter, check YouTube) wouldn’t allow video but three pictures somewhat show it. By stats it’s a technical 75 foot gain in 211 foot of horizontal travel. My point is it’s STEEP.
Known locally as Widowmaker. Rightfully so since it is a 2 way trail. What a blast to go down though.

Some world class camera action from a buddy here. Step up is roughly 2 feet although you’d never tell from the photo.

And to cap it off you wiggle around some janky rocks that try to snag you and grind it out.

Just my own personal victory I thought I’d share. If your ever near Phoenix go to south mountain and ride from pima canyon up to buena vista lookout. You can go up mormon(this trail which is significantly easier) or Lower national which is insanely technical. Mormon and national can both get you to the famous Waterfall(with no water of course).

The catch is we have to stay 3 years for it to be vested, but that’s not a big deal to me. I don’t have a plan to leave. Yeah basically the rough calc of it is probably 10-15k over 3 years. So if you divide that into a bonus for 3 years is it better? Just depends. I know a few years back, for a position similar to mine, bonuses would be around 5-6k after taxes. So...comparable, but not a check/cash lol.

Boeing has really REALLY good benefits...

    not enough.
these thigns stick to yyour bike like crazy and actually kinda change the way it looks. but they're durable as f*. I've used ridewrap, invisiframe, lizard skins, and AMS. they're all damn good at their jobs and help not only keep your bike clean, but make it easier to clean and peace of mind.

Let me back track on this, for anyone that cares....

apparently these stock units are replacing bonuses, and raises. Which sucks.

no we're not giving you a raise this year, but here's two more stocks than last year. Is that kinda what you mean?

No. I mean they used to always do a lump sum bonus in a check. They also did a percentage salary increase (3-5%).

the original verbiage read that the bonuses would be gone, and the stocks would replace that, but more verbiage has revealed it’s also replacing percentage salary raises. At a minimum for this year.

I agree. I’m fine with it instead of a bonus, but not stoked that we won’t get raises.

I don’t even have random ideas haha. Money doesn’t control my life, so I don’t want to work extra just for money. I would rather it be something fun I can do and happen to make some money on it.

    < Finance guy here.

Typically the way these employee stock issuances work is they will either issue common stock to you at a percentage of market price (~75-80% typically) or set the "strike price" at market cost as of a certain date (probably the day they announced, or shortly before) and once they vest at some point in the future, you are free to offload them and you profit off the difference, less capital gains and usually a very minor service fee. They will usually be handled by a finance company like UBS, Fidelity, etc, and may or may not be the same company that services your 401K.

50 shares of Boeing, especially at a currently depressed price due to 737 MAX, Starliner, etc will mean there is massive upside once the aviation industry comes back.

In example, you get a 375 stocks issued of your company "C" at a 19.65 strike price, and you sell at time of vestiture for 37.21. You have held on to the stock for less than a year, so short term cap gains is income tax. Your gross profit is 6585 and your takehome will be about 4300.

They may issue stock with that intent, but there is very little concrete evidence that this is actually a net result en masse. It may persuade certain people to try, but the average worker is largely just looking for a check to cash at the end of the day. Startups are the area where this may actually have some effect, since everyone wants that sweet sweet IPO equity.
