listen "experienced man" until you've met me and understand anything about me, don't make comments about how you assume I am. I thanked those for the comments that actually answered my question, or that were completely new suggestions that I didn't initially say I've tried.

I don't see those folks getting all fussy like you.

Find a shop with test saddles. Dealers for Fabric, Specialized, and Fizik usually have loaner saddles so you can try before you buy.

Also.... You may never find the right saddle. I've been riding for 20+ years. I've tried hundreds of saddles. I've been measured, scanned, etc. Still haven't found the perfect saddle. I have a couple of favorites which are close at least

IIRC it was skin chaffing, not skin bruising, so problem solved.

the secret to using vaseline is to make sure your cheeks are clenched on your saddle the whole time.

very good point, and why I'd like to try the cheapo route first before jumping in with expensive ones.

I think it's related to pinching maybe though. I really don't know how to answer what it is, other than I know it's not rash and I know it's not my bones hurting. So I describe it the best way I can. it's raw haha

Sorry this doesn't meet his very strict 15cm criteria. How dare you suggest it....what did you not even read his post??

Also not what he asked. But in all seriousness, there are a number of reasons I'd avoid petroleum products for this application.

My solution would be to hit the gym and do some squats till your butts big enough to provide the padding you need :D

If you're just doing this to find a cheap one, that is the same shape as an expensive one, before buying that expensive one you may just he wasting time and money. Even a slight change if shape can be a marked difference between two saddles. Not to mention different materials and construction.

One of my favorite saddles is the Selle Italia Flite. There are two versions of the exact same shape. The old, discontinued, leather and the newer synthetic leather. I love the original and really don't like the new one even though the shape is identical.

You may be less fussy than me though.

I may not end up buying the expensive one though, if the cheap is good. Just want to find out if the sizing will make a difference, without blowing too much money trying different expensive saddles.
