I was home a couple of weeks ago and did Fisher Creek. I was in my ID truck though.

Rode a trail near the beach this AM, was even hot there. Now hunkered down in the AC.

I have no idea how people run it as a front. Maybe in the Grip compound, but even then the mechanical grip is severely lacking. It is a fast rolling rear tire, and does get up to speed super fast on hardback, it's also a super fun tire if you like getting sideways and flicking the back around.
I've been running it as a rear on my down-country bike, and it works on that platform, but I probably won't get it again. The Aggressor rolls just as fast and it has more grip.

I went from OEM Ikons to DHR to Aggressor and back to Ikon. I really notice the speed and more predictable cornering feel, and I guess (I know) that I’m a slow rider so don’t notice a huge difference in cornering traction; straight line braking on loose-over-hard is worse but I think the Ikons are better on wet rocks and roots than the DHR even the same compound. I liked the Aggressor but it wore out fast. I know a lot of you guys are fast aggressive riders, but I think many of us over-tire our bikes (and our trucks) …

Well, I've never had great luck with Maxxis tires. The Minion DHF seems to be one of the most popular tires out there, but they have a dead spot as they roll over that makes them feel unpredictable to me. It seems you gotta be vertical or laid over significantly to get traction. From the looks of the tread pattern, I'd probably like the Assegai the best. The Rekon was OK in a plus size, but not as compliant as I would have liked. I keep going back to Bontrager XR4's, I seem to never have to think about my tires when I use them.

Gravel bikes are like the old school rigid MTB's. You're welcome here.

Just looking at the tread pattern it's surprising the Aggressor would have more traction. It was only one ride and I'm not saying I don't like the Dissector just that it's significantly looser than the DHR2 when pushed to the limit in cornering. Braking and climbing traction seemed just fine. I think the Dissector will be better than the Aggressor in wet, but I'll see how it hold up to wet this fall.

I have never noticed the dead spot on the Minions but I'm a straight up or laid over type rider if I'm pushing it. I really had no gripes with the DHR2 other than it's not the fastest rolling tire. I've heard pretty good things about the Bontragers but have never ridden them. I would guess the XR4 doesn't have the same max grip of a Minion though.

Well dang. Just went for a local ride on some logging roads and around a couple gravel pits. There are some extreme inclines at a couple of the "hidden" trail entrances. Sometime during the ride I broke a tooth tip on the 52! Nothing violent, no hard shifts. Went into low 5-6 times. Oddly I don't notice it when riding. Not in the mood to buy a $300 SRAM cassette!

So much depends on the terrain you ride on. I'm typically riding loose, loose over hardback, steep, and rocky trails.
On the enduro bike the Assegai is king on anything loose, just grips for days.
I also like to flick the back end around a bunch, but still need braking grip on the back for those really steep trails. The DHR2 is a perfect rear tire for me for most days, but I do love the fast rolling speed of the Aggressor. The Aggressor has a bunch of small, closely spaced blocks which dig in really well when you lay on the brakes, and well supported side blocks for cornering. It still gets loose (which I like), but rolls quick and has a vey reasonable weight.
But for the trail bike, which sees more hard pack, more climbing, but some loose terrain, I felt like the Dissector would be fun. I was disappointed in its grip honestly, and it's down to those short blocks. It's pattern is great (wide, flat, well spaced blocks), but they are short.

**90% of my riding is also in bone dry conditions

Some trails were just meant for ebikes…
3k of road climb for this fun flowy singletrack lends itself well to Tesla power.
It also JUST rained, so trails were super tight and fun.

Well I decided to switch things up. The Sentinel was too cramped. Sold today and bought this. Feels good to have a pretty much new bike.
