one of their rack locks will work just fine. just like this one https://www.1up-usa.com/product/wheel-locks-qtr-turn/

Idk. Hopeful thinking maybe? It probably is an impact. it's the backside of the seat tube. behind the chainstay bridge. surprsied anything can even get there. but...oh well. Evil got back ot me and is offering crash replacement.

The new issue of Freehub Mag has an article dedicated to Nevada and a nice section on Reno trails. You should check it out!

Didn't go over too well, totally ignored my reasoning.

I like the pinkbike comments section and agree it's competitively priced. Can also order and have one delivered in September.

For our first Christmas, my then not-yet-fiancée who is now my wife of 32 years got me a Salsa T Shirt and some Shimano XT pedals …. I still have the pedals but wish I had the (pre-QBP) shirt with the “If it ain’t moto” logo. She still rides as much or more than me, on only her 3rd mtn bike in 35 years, a V2 Ripley.

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve ridden a lot near Reno (Tahoe, Carson City) and Vegas (Red Rocks, Blue Diamond) but there’s a lot mentioned in the article I didn’t know about.

You probably had a rock wedged up there. Unless Evil gives you a good deal on a crash warranty, I'd just ride it until it fails.

Grouse, if you're into rocky jank.

Haven't been home in two months so not sure on conditions of the trails though. Check the Routt County trail conditions FB group.

Recommendations on clipless shoes? Finally bit the bullet and ordered a pair of Crank Brothers Mallet E pedals. Thinking about getting their Mallet E shoes for the best compatibility unless you guys have a better recommendation.

Also any tips for a first time clipless rider?

There are endless options and everyone is different. I would recommend your LBS and try some on. They will all likely be compatible with your mallets

I have these pedals. Make sure the spacing and traction pads are correct. Every shoe is different and I’ve found that with the mallets if you don’t have it right then it’s almost impossible to unclip at critical moments. The rubber of the shoe will catch on the pads or pins and you’ll be stuck.

Best tip is to practice “falling down.” Find some really soft grass or sand. Come to a stop and tip over to a side. Try to wait as long as you can before unclipping to catch yourself.

I'm a fan of the Five-Ten Kestrel lace shoes, but I run XT Trail pedals.

Shimano SPDs, but those might be a bit old school. Not sure on those anymore, as i don’t see many people with those anymore. but that’s what I run and they work well for me, easy to clip out of with how I have them set up. And I have some older Specialized MTB shoes, but they are rubber soled and I can walk around in them with no issues. The SPD clip fits in a little notch that does contact the ground a bit, so you do have to watch the type of surface you are walking on, but if you are outside nothing to worry about.

I like it! I haven’t done a ton of mountain trails on my Cutthroat, but the few I have done have been fun. I’m not crazy downhill fast, but I don’t mind climbing and that’s where the Cutt has been fun!

Looks like a great place to ride as well!

I just got the Kestrel pro boa and I'm real happy with them and my time pedals.

SPD is still probably the most common clipless pedal out there. They would be my recommendation to anyone new to clipless.

@neatoneto go try on some at the LBS and buy the ones that fit best.

Yeah. they're hooking me up with a good deal on a crash replacement. I just need to do some work and get it sent in and they'll send me a new one at a really good price. I'm not angry about it at all.
