Make sure your cleats are tight on bottom of you shoes. I've been battling that last few rides...ended up He-manning the threaded plate and striping it out.....that moment when you are tightening something and it goes loose......

I just switched over after 7 or so years of saying flats for life... it's better for sure, IMO... It's really nice on the super chunky DH. Your feet stay planted. I went back to flats for a few rides on a buddies bike and I was shocked how many times my feet came off even slightly on flats. Then you are spending time trying to move your feet back over on the pedals 2 CM for 15 seconds while you attempt to also navigate the trail at speed. With clipless that's a thing of the past. I've had a few zero MPH falls on tech climbs... due to not being able to get unclipped.
It's been kinda refreshing riding local stuff.. Now the Tech climbs have an additional layer of sketchiness. Clipping out has started to become more of natural reaction.

When I started riding clipless I wore knee pads for a month or so. This was in Arizona with a lot of rocky trails, so I would have gotten torn up by a 0mph tip over. Hope you enjoy clipless, I can’t imagine going back to flats and having me get not secure while riding. Stepping out of the pedals quickly becomes second nature. Also I’m a big fan of Shimano SPD pedals and shoes.

:anonymous: I always wear knees and elbows....

So nice sending the body and just popping up like it didn't happen.

Not that I run out of talent on the regular.

Sorry misread this - you already have the pedals. But this is the type of shoe I have that works well - these are newer, my MTB shoes are probably 8-10 yrs old. I don’t ride MTB as often as my road, but I like this style.

Hiline is a must. The Hogs are a bit easier but still very fun. Never done Hangover because Hiline was a perfect limit for me.

I really like the 5.10 Kestrels with my Mallet Es.

tips: CB rose colored easy out clips for way easy disengagement, screw the pins all the way in to make it easier to get out, practice on a grassy area (not a very abrasive parking lot like me)

My first thought was a rock or something wedged up between the two.

I would mainly recommend to remember to un-clip when you stop

I'll be in Telluride for a few days in the next couple of weeks. Any suggestions on bike stuff to do there?

I'll have at least one day at the bike park, but could probably squeeze in some other half day biking activities here and there.

Help me out here - what does “shaxs” mean… sorry if i should know that too! Ha.

But yes, it does climb. And going from a 26” MTB to this 29” also makes a difference. I am getting better at riding on the mountain trails that I hit up, but there were a few spots that gave me trouble with my 26” hard tail that this thing just climbs and goes. It’s fun to ride!

Highly overrated advice. Unintended Trail naps are best naps.

oh jeez….I said that to myself many times….and it never clicked! You can put your coat back…it’s ok!

I have built in shaxs…that have aged a bit and probably need a rebuild, but I still have some life in them….if that counts!

I'm looking to switch to clipless as well after my shuttle day last Saturday. Got all sorts of bounced around and thought how nice it would be to have my feet locked in. I got some Shimano XT pedals that I'm going to give a shot.

Woof. I think I did this 5 times last weekend.

A few times, made it up some steep nasty sections only to pull up behind my buddy and tip over. Figured it out that it was my cleat being loose which was contributing to my fail...

At least everyone got a good laugh at my expense?
