It's an Rtic 65L. A little overkill at times but works great for multiday treks

anyone here swap to an oval chainring? I just added one on my giant to try out and for what ever reason I cant get it to up shift from the 2nd largest cog to the 3rd largest. going from high to low gears and thru every other shift point is fine except for this one. adjusting my barrel adjuster doesnt seem to change the issue and my derailler looks in good alignment. any one have any other ideas to try?

Thanks :hattip: I'm tempted to upgrade my camping cooler to something that will hold ice longer; gets annoying to have to buy ice every/every-other day. I just want it to be belowthe top of the bed so I can still use it with my tonneau.

What about to shifting into your largest cog? Did you swap on a equivalent size oval ring, or did you up size? And the issue is shifting down cog sizes correct?

Largest cog is no issues. I had a 30t round and went to a 32t oval, do I need to add a longer chain? correct, it's only going down cog sizes and only one shift point that is having issues

I've been very happy with my RTIC 45 cooler. Holds ice for a few days with normal use, and it does fit underneath my roll-up tonneau. The top of the cooler sits just at the height of the bed rails, so no matter what tonneau you have, it should work. I'm pretty sure the bigger sizes are the same height, just longer, so those should work also. RTIC is also a little more than half the price of the Yeti, and works about as well. Highly recommend them.

That's weird, if you had issues getting into the biggest cog I'd say check your chain length but since that isn't a issue you should be good there.

If your hanger is straight and your derailleur isn't bent, i'm wondering if it's you cable or housing. How old is your derailleur cable and housing? Your cable could be getting hung up in the housing causing it to stick.

Yeah super odd, I've got maybe 500-600 miles on the cable and housing. I was having no issues with the round chainring, left the bike for 10 days, swapped on the oval.ring the other day and haven't been able to get rid of this issue since.

finally got myself a mountain bike! Now looking for a solid way to transport it.

Would you guys go with a tailgate pad or a rail mount? Seems like the rail mount would be the cleaner looking set up and provides a bit more security since you can look the forks to it, however taking off the front wheel each time would get old. The tailgate pads worry me, it always looks like the wheel is so close to rubbing the bumper.

    Please shares thoughts and experiences

I'm currently using a rail mount. Haven't gotten sick of taking off the front wheel. Takes about 15 seconds. I haven't used a tail gate pad so can't offer feed back on that. I like that I can just leave the racks on the truck where I was taking the hitch rack I have on and off pretty often.

Did you install a rail on the front of the bed? or are you just using the side one?

Sorry, I have cross bars across the bed of my truck and mounted trays to that. Pretty similar security to the front and side fork mounted and I would imagine the loading process is pretty similar.
