Rocky mounts are not cheep, but they are worth the money. I have the lockable mounts. I got mine from auto anything i had a discount code.

I use the Kuat and very pleased - like being able to swap the receiver size 1 1/4 for the Subaru and 2" for the Tacoma

Anybody have any experience with the RockyMounts hitch tray racks? Looks like there are some recalls on the SplitRail and MonoRail bases.

Rocky Mounts Hot Rod thru-axle mounts, mounted onto custom built Baja Rack mounting plates. When I get a chance I'll take some close ups of the set up. The reason for this setup is purely to have free access to the rear of the truck (removing bikes after a day of shredding, ain't nobody got time for that). A second reason I chose to go this route was that I almost always take a dual sport dirt bike with me every where I go. I like to have options.

I've tried every damn major model there is, except 1Up. The Dr. Tray is the best. It's low weight, high security with manageable locking cables, low profile, tailgate clearance, and most of all adjustability make it a top performer. They may make an adaptor for kids bikes, send them an email.
All that said, I'm going to sell mine and get the 1Up. None of the models that have the hook in the front work with reverse arch forks like the Manitou, or some other brands like the Cane Creek Helm. Plus they all make contact with the fork body which scratches their surface.
The 1Up only contacts the tires, is more stout, and lower profile. I also have a deep discount on the major brands, which is why I tried so many. But I'm just going to bite the bullet on this one. My bikes are about $7K-$10K each, I'm more than willing to spend 3% of their value to keep them safe.

    Solid feedback. Thank you.

I’ll inquire with Yakima about possibe kid bike adapters. My oldest is only 2yrs so in reality I’m still a few years from needing that capability. I’m just trying to buy what will meet the widest array of applications once if possible.

Sadly, and luckily, my single bike stable only consists of a Trek Stache currently. It was a scant $2500 bike, but is still a shit ton of money to me and the top end of what I’ll ever be putting into anything without an engine. High end reverse arch forks are things I only read about.

It’s tough to ever say the 1ups are not an option for me, just tough to take plunge if other cheaper options can meet my needs.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

    RockyMounts LoBall...
    https://rockymounts.com/products/loball

They offer a model with a locking handle. I very rarely need to lock mine (I never keep it stored back there). I just transport it to my starting point. IF I need to run into a store or something quick, I keep a cable lock handy to run through the frame and through the D-ring in the bed.

You'll see RockyMount offers a "hardware kit" for $20. Comes with rail cleats, screws, hex key, etc.. to make it easy to install. I think $20 is rediculous for a few scraps of metal. I spent $5 at Ace Hardware on a few washers, bolts, etc...

Lol not mine. It's gonna need to be completely restored.

Roommate brought it back from guam about a decade ago and not worked on it. HOA finally started assessing the fee for non working vehicles which prompted him to move it after holding the driveway in place for nearly 3 years.

Thule t2 proXT 1.25 inch model with a kuat adapter. It works on my commuter car as well. It’s very close to the tailgate in the lowest position.
Just wanted to test fit after reading so many people hitting the tailgate on them.

1-up has provided many miles of solid transport. The kuat (near new still in garage, should sell it...) tire bucket contacted the tailgate when down so no go there.

Bonus fact! The 1-up collapses to a remarkably small footprint for storage.

The only issue ever was a myopic driver hooking the left arm with his front fender and pulling it backwards. Bike was ok but the base plate needed replacement.

Did the 25 mile ride today at the Outlaw Trail cycling tour in Round Rock Tx, I’m stupid and haven’t rode in several weeks leading up to this. Needless to say I’m hurting. Bike did great though, for a mtb on a road course. Makes me want to buy the Specialized Diverge I’ve been eyeballing!

Went for a Moab trip last weekend. Wanted to get Whole Enchilada, but it's always a crapshoot in October. Snowed 2 feet at the tops a few days before... High elevations off limits, but hero dirt everywhere else.
So, rode the other stellar rides out there, Ahab Huckfest, Pipeline, Bartlett, Mag 7 w/Poral and did some cold ass camping. Was also going to do some driving on the trails, but I'm just not confident enough on the stock tires to go it alone.

I'm going to add a quick bit of "roadie", then we can go right back to all these awesome dirt pics!!

Took this pic after the Bluestreak Time Trial. It's on Wright Patterson Air force Base, looking across the flightline.
The TT is 10 miles long and I finished 14th overall and 1st place roadbike, at 25.2 mph.
