Does anyone have any better ideas for bikes under a cap/camper top? I've seen the below, but was hoping for something a little cleaner?

Before the cap, I used to use some rockymounts and the T slot rail like the below. It was really nice and secure.

Super cool! Thanks! I just texted my riding buddy and we are going to make the trip in January or February. Looks like my dirt jumper would be a blast there

You have to love road trips with the bikes and kids. Our daughter races DH so we have been lucky to get to spend our summers driving to different races hanging out with her. A great way to have fun and bond with the kids.

Man, that's a sweet bike park (and truck). There are great MTB parks out here but nothing indoors to take the kids in winter.

@KB Voodoo has the best "above-tonneau" rack option that I have seen. The Hi-Rise is affordable and can hold as many bikes as you can fit on the cross bars. I have one above my OEM cover. See my avatar.

The new Mohawk trail is sweet, and there's some stuff of the north side that is pretty fun too, but i totally forget the names. Should be good this weekend providing that it doesn't get too much rain, doesn't seem to dry out as well as the north shore mountains.

Question: I am interested in a fat tire bike for winter riding. What are your thoughts on forks or not? I am thinking I want to keep my purchase price down, 500-700. Can I get a decent fat tire bike for that?

Did you post this up a few weeks ago in the MTBEU classifieds on FB? Not too many tan nomads with skinwalls and camo vinyl.

I have a fully rigid one. I've never had an issue on the snow, and only a few times did I really wish I had one when I ride it in the spring and fall hero dirt. What I WOULD do however is budget in good brakes like Zees or Saints, etc. Most fatbike brakes are criminally underpowered for any type of real riding. Messed myself up real good last spring when I got a little too Gwin-y, pulled the levers of my tektros, and damn near nothing happened. Most don't come with droppers either, and its my opinion the standover of fatbikes seems to be a little taller than regular bikes, mixed with the fact that if you sink in the snow, you may find yourself a little short in the inseam.

I'd check Craigslist, KSL, etc for used ones.

I have a 2015 5010c. I bought in while living in the Laguna Beach area and it fit my needs for a bike that could climb well and be a decent descender (I'm not an aggressive rider at all). I also took it to Iceland and it performed great there. I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs. The Bike Co., which wrenches for Brian Lopes, in Orange County, CA, recommended and built the bike up for me. I give it a thumbs up, but size and riding style make all the difference so talk to a good shop.
