I am running 3 one up posts right now on different bikes. Two for over a year. They work great, are affordable and replacement cartridges are only $80. I like the infinite position ability of a hydraulic post versus an air driven mechanical one.

You guys have a model of one up you’d suggest? As well as lever?

I’ve only had mine for over a year without any issues but if it fails its still not bad for $99

@backcountryj I have the one up carbon lever on two of my bikes and the third I use a wolf tooth. I like both levers. If you like your levers to match the other components on your bars the one up carbon has a matte finish and does not really “match” anything. I am ok with the mis-match, but some might not like it. The other catch is if you want/need to restrict the travel with the shim, it comes with the lever as a package. Not sure if they sell the shim separately now. I have one 170mm version and two 150mm travel versions. I restrict the travel on one of the 150mm and it works perfect. I currently have it set to 137mm.

Yea, for the price I paid for it, I guess I got good use out of it.

I've been scanning through this long thread, but does anyone run a setup like this on a short bed? I'm in the market for a Tacoma and trying to make sure I won't regret the SB which I really prefer the looks and drivability of. But I really like this setup of bed top bars with wheels-on rack. I think that you could hang the ass end up the bike out past the tailgate with the frontloader.

Thanks, duder! That had me super pumped! Good thing I took those early pics though, LOL... Shit is kinda wrecked right now (sticks and stones have had their way with the bottom parts), might be time to re-wrap that section!

It also might be time to look into a better rack... I'm not super keen on the allen sports rack I bought a few months back (have to strap it and bungee cord it every time to keep it steady) but don't want to spend $500 on a fancy 1-up or kuat. Is there anything in between those two that's good and easy to use? I don't think they're too expensive... I'm just poor.

If you're just transporting one bike and you don't need more, the Thule T1 I hear is really good. My buddy has one, and you don't have to worry about scratching your bike.

Its $330...not sure if thats more of the price you're looking for, but thought I'd try to help out

That's closer to what I'm after, however, my wife will likely be riding again soon (when it warms up again) so I'm in for two bikes :(. Thanks for the info though, I hadn't even thought about Thule!

I have had the Yakima platform style rack (Holdup maybe) for years and it has been a very solid rack that meets out needs well for 1 to 2 bikes. You can add an extension for 4 bikes but it really sticks out back there.

My bars will be here tomorrow, but, I will continue to use a fork mount, and added a rear wheel tray...
Anyway, shortbed and no regrets. I have moments, but, I came from a Jeep, so I have a lightweight utility trailer if I need more room.

See avatar. KB Voodoo Hi Rise and 1up rack on short bed. I use it for daily transport (lunch rides at work) and it works great. I will hook up a T2 for family trips with multiple bikes (or when RTT is on), mainly because I already have a T2 and 1ups are spendy.

Have you checked craigslist in your area for a used Kuat, Yakima or Thule? I see them frequently on there in my area.

Cool. I knew it would fit with fork mount but I strongly prefer wheels on for daily transport (plus have the racks already).

Thanks. I'd like to be able to do 2 on/in the bed and 2 on the holdup when the capacity is needed. I've been in SUV/wagons so long I'm just trying to figure out all the options for gear storage with a truck. I like the bed bars with racks since you can still put stuff in the bed and not increase the vehicle footprint with a hitch rack.

That’s what I run. I can fit two frontloaders and a skybox16 in the middle. The bed is freed up, and if I need to fit more bikes I throw on the hitch rack.
Enough space for 4 bikes, people, all their gear, and dry storage.
**the pic shows one bike on, but you can see the second frontloader.

Dude thanks so much for that post! I was wondering about a roof box on the bed too! I have the Skybox 16 too and was hoping this would work for ski transport as well. Secure storage for skis was another big question I had. Awesome! I'm inching closer and closer to the Tacoma route over a 4Runner.

More 1up questions... Can the trays be removed from the hitch mounts? I'd love to be able to switch them back and forth from roof to hitch as needed.

Had my fav local bike shop help me sort a few last lingering issues with the Transition. They took a few pics for their facebook when done since its a unique setup, probably better pics than I usually take, plus the Taco ended up in one and I was not aware.

last weekend at this spot I saw a pretty heinously "modded" barcelona red TRD sport with a decal on the tailgate said "superman edition" with superman esses everywhere including one on the hood that was about 3" off center. made me chuckle, then felt sort of embarrassed for them. my stock truck might be boring or whatever but at least I haven't ruined it.
