This bike is a great bike I currently own the same bike, it is awesome! That being said these other guys are accurate it is dated. The only thing I would add is if you are new to riding this will still be a lot of bike for you. When it comes to my friends I always recommend getting something used like this. This allows you to get to know the hobby and see if you like it without dropping a bunch of $$. Also a few pics, cause we all love our pics.

    This is my enduro:

Just curious, do you have a lift? I am a new TRD 4x4 Sport owner and would like the size tires you have, just cant afford a lift as of yet.

I rode a friend's 26" Enduro a few years ago. Even then it was a bit dated, but still almost 20 years newer than what I was riding at the time. It felt a bit of a handful going uphill ... in particular I really had to adapt to modern wide bars ... but oh man, the downhill was great. It was an expensive trial though, as it inspired me to upgrade my own ride and get a new, 29" carbon trail bike. So $1000 seems pretty cheap to me.

True. It is not a great climber. I would take my enduro on downhill trails all the time. It was capable of almost anything. But for that bike, I would see if I could get the price down a bit.

I personally would not buy a Enduro or similar to get in to mtb. They can be difficult to turn and are really sluggish on cc trails. An all around trail bike would allow you to enjoy it way better.

depends on what you want to get out of your riding... my first mountain bike was a Norco Range, pretty darn enduro - never pedalled anything off-road before but it's been a blast from day 1

It's all relative but I'm not sure a 26" Enduro would be sluggish, but I ride a 29-er so what do I know.

Really it comes down what type of trails he may potentially be riding. If it's a lot of cross country type of trail there are better bikes, but if the trails have long descents then a enduro could be a great fit. The better bet for finding the right type of bike would be to see what types of bikes his friends ride and to try and find something in the similar class of bike.

I like this set up. I have a baser and bike racks just like yours from my last vehicle. Was thinking of getting voodoo rails to work with my tonneau. Just like that.

Can you give us some pros/cons with the way it's setup?

To be honest the only con I have found so far is the lack of being able to open the Tonneau.. but I knew that going in (luckily I already installed lighting in the bed so I can still see in there). I love how quick it is to load and unload bikes. I can drive into the garage with the bikes on the rack - Well anyone but mine cuz I am 6'4" and my seat post is a bit higher so I just take the rear wheel out of the U channel when I pull into the garage.

Note* I did install the KB Voodoo rack to the front of the latching system as I wanted everything as far forward as possible - this made it so I could only use one of the bolts on the front but I don't think that it has hampered performance in any way.
--- Also don't forget you will want to use a couple of bolts through the front section into the KB Voodoo rails so it doesn't rock back and forth - most of the racks have a slight curve on the bottom and when putting them on a flat surface with just one bolt in the center they rock like mad going down the road.

I have a back ground of bmx growing up and ive had a department store mountain bike i rode for years on trails as well. Im not a stranger to pedals but also lack the experience of the trails i do plan on riding in my area. I can go from mostly down hill trails drive 30minutes and have more flatland or up and downhill trails. So a bike that can "do it all" well is what im looking for. I know theres not a do it all "great" bike out there. Im really wanting to stay arounf that $1000 dollar price but max would be 1500-1800ish for me. Its also hard to find something used that fits me. Im 6'2 so all of the medium bikes are off limits. And 90% of whats on craigslist is mediums.

Are there any bike shops near you that will let you demo a few different bikes? Or you can ask them when/if they are doing a demo day. I only suggest this as being able to ride a bunch of different bikes can really help you figure out what you like don't like. Even if you ride a bunch of bikes you can't currently afford it'll help you with figuring out what you'd like in a bike and what type of riding you prefer.
