the aluminum come in black as well, and the RS Yari is the stock fork for the #4... doesn't matter how good the deal is, it's still a fair bit of cash to hand over without even being able to ride the parking lot. Sorry it didn't add up for you.

Ahhh bummer lol but yea i agree i didnt feel they were trying to sell it at all. I even said i was expecting it to be yellow. The guy said " the great thing about this flat black color is you can color in the decals with a black sharpie and it will darken up the bike even more" .im not sure about yall but im not wanting to play art class with a $2300 dollar bike.

It sounds like that shop will eventually feel the learning curve. I have been in shops to look at mid level bikes, and they had no problem letting me spin around on race level bikes. I even pedaled around a Specialized S-Works bike or two in my day, and that is way more cash on the line than a basic Transition bike.

Saved an old Trek from the scrap heap the other day. Cobbled it together out of a bunch of spare parts some friends had laying around. Frame is a touch to large, the stem is too long, bars are too narrow, tires are shit but damn it feels good to be back on a bike after ten years. Feeling a 69er build with this one to get my center of balance further back. Good to be back riding.IMG_3342.jpg

Hey guys, should I be worried about taking a 3500 mile round trip with 2 ~400lb KLR 650's in the back of my '17 Tacoma SR 2.7, 5 speed, 4x4, access cab?
I've pulled some heavy loads on trailers with it, including a tandem axle trailer with my 1980 Hilux rock crawler for about 100 miles, with no problems, just needed to downshift a little earlier for hills than usual.
I live near Nashville, TN, and plan to go to Colorado this summer, and will be driving all over the state in the truck then parking it when I get closer to the trails we want to ride on the motorbikes.
I'm not looking to drive 100mph the whole way, or expecting stellar fuel economy, but a truck with only 15k miles should handle a road trip with two dirtbikes and two fat guys, right?

Sounds like it should handle it ok. Used to do similar trips in my '85 Yota pretty regularly. If a little 22re can do it surely your 2.7l can.

I finally got to test out my bike yesterday. Went to Monte Sano State Park here in Alabama and rode over 10 miles of mountain biking trails. Many of which I as a beginner do not belong on (one called warpath ridge). I was impressed with how my bike handled and enjoyed the hell out of it. I can't wait to go again, but I need to let my butt recover. Do you get used to the skinny uncomfortable seats or does everybody upgrade??

I upgraded the seat on my trek, but it still took some getting used to, especially since I don't wear padded shorts when I ride.
I don't remember what kind of seat is on my mountain bike, but it's still a fairly skinny seat, but it's way more comfortable than the original, although on the mountain bike I rarely find myself sitting in the first place, using my knees to absorb rough terrain rather than my ass.
On my road bike, an old Peugot frame from the 80's with some modern aluminum wheels, I have a Brooks B-17 seat, and that thing is HEAVEN as far as bike seats go.
It took some mileage to break it in with neatsfoot oil, which ruined a pair of shorts, but once it was broken in, I can do 20 mile rides, and be sad they are over, rather than grateful to be done, so I can go soak my junk in an Epsom salt bath or something. It's kind of pricey, but such a good seat that I've thought about buying another for the mountain bike, but can't justify $120 for a seat I'll hardly sit on.

Its a compentent entry level bike. I almost always recommend a bike similar to this for people new to mountain biking. The parts are good enough, and you can upgrade as stuff wears out or breaks, all while not breaking the bank buying it. Almost all bike companies make this bike, with slight geometry and parts differences, so find the frame that fits the best.

Right, for any obstacles or bumps I was standing, but any smooth areas I try to sit and let my legs relax. By the end of the ride it was a lose lose situation whether I stand up and feel exhausted or sit and feel like I'm getting raped.

Awesome setup, curious where you got the cross bar to mount the two middle bikes?

Just get padded shorts and slap on some chamois butter to avoid crotch rot. You'll get used to it eventually the more you ride. I use WTB saddles. Comfortable and wide enough for me.

Looks good man, I might be out in the Spokane area for memorial day weekend. Was curious if you had any recommendations on some good DH parks?

Would a scott genius 730 2016 model be worth $2400? A local shop has one large left on close out. Said it retails for $3900 ive test rode a few bikes so far and havent found the one yet. Would this one be worth a look?
    Heres the specs

I have the 2013 740 genius, upgraded a bunch on it (wheels and tires, cockpit, dropper post) and I love it. I got mine for $2400 a couple years ago, so that one being one model "better" is a good price for one a few years later.

When I was shopping, I rode a Giant Trance and the Scott Genius, and the Genius felt much better to me. The twinlock is a bit of a gimmick and somewhat unique to the Scott line, but I use it quite a bit (it's there, so why not?).

Can't hurt to ride one if it fits and you like it.
