I use Stan’s not Orange, but I was wondering about clogging the valve. I think I’ll try it ...

Also doesn't eat through my Maxxis sidewalls like Stan's did.

I was under the impression Stans revised their formula after that debacle? Still won't use it... but just for the sake of clarity and information.

Funny, I rarely see any bleed-through with Stan’s after years of using it with Maxxis, but my wife’s Schwalbes always look sweaty just a day or two after riding.

I must have gotten a bottle of the old batch then. Mine lasted like half a season before like half my sidewall area was covered in greasy sealant. I'd wash it off and my tire would be flat in about an hour.

Speaking of cleaning sealant...New skinwalls get delivered today! Guess I gotta go get some rim tape now. I know my back wheel is shot.

Any one tried that sealant that Steve Peat created?

Ive been wondering while my old rear tire had Stan’s seeping through. Was this recent? I think the bottle I used was from a year or two ago...might have to give orange a shot though

Orange Seal > Stans hands down. I can't remember when the change was made but it was a couple years ago I think. That said, Monday feels like a month ago to me so IDK.

The other thing that's also very relevant in tubeless formulas is that they have a finite shelf life. IDK what Stans is, but Orange Seal states one year from date of bottling and the date is stamped on the bottle. I believe Stans was using ammonia as a solution enhancement that was attributed to some of the sidewall issues.

sidenote: Orange Seal's "Endurance" formula has no connection to working more effectively in tubeless applications; it's just a reference to a longer shelf life...

Ironically to the above post: Stan's wheelsets have been run by a few of my friends to great effect. Hope as well. Or if you wanna blow some cash WeAreOne Carbon rims.

Muc-off sealant works well too, no boogies.
I run NOX wheels, love em. Plus, American made and company, never broke one.

Got a price range/budget, as well as intended use, ie mtb/road/gravel/etc?

Yeah I was just looking at their site. Looks like the endurance lasts longer in the tire than the regular but doesn’t protect as well.
I saw REI has muc-off but it states a pressure range of 15-120 psi...I wonder how necessary that 15psi is for a 29+ tire

That’s a healthy budget and will open the door to tons of options, as well as suggestions.

If you want to spend the top end, I’d personally go custom build vs off the shelf wheelset. Something like some Santa Cruz reserve carbon hoops wrapped around Industry 9 hydra or Project 321 hubs.

If you want middle of the road, a set of DT Swiss 240s on some RaceFace or Spank aluminum rims or an Industry 9 101 setup.

Lowest price point (and IMHO one of the best performing bang for your buck options out there) a set of Bontrager line comp 30 coupled with the spring/pawl upgrade kit.
