Brighton was my second home for more than a dozen years. Used to work Snowboard school there, rode 100+ days those years. Still have lots of 'family' up there.

Has anyone ever drafted or seen a Bikes 'n Tacos logo of some sort?

I think we need one, but I'm not a graphic designer or artist. I think it needs to be clean and simple -- nothing with big obnoxious trucks on it, or anything. Just something that says "Bikes 'n Tacos" and has some sort of emblem for both. Something that can be put in the middle of the front of a Tshirt -- and not splashed across the entire back of a shirt like we're stuck in 1990.

    Just a thought...

I like it. Especially since for non-Tacoma owners, bikes and beer or bikes and burritos come to mind, but not (around here at least) bikes and tacos. I know a good designer ...

Brainstorming: The silhouette of a bicycle with the Toyota symbol for both wheels (or just the front wheel)? Might look stupid.. I don't know.

Need some platform hitch rack feedback as I’m tired of deliberating.
I know the overwhelming collective mentality, myself included, is that the 1upUSA are the best platform options on the market. They just come at a steep price point. Yes, I know: “buy once cry one”
The fact that they accommodate down to 16" wheels is another bonus in my book for the 1up.

All that said, having access to some pro deals on most all the other big brand rack players, the price differential between 1up and the others becomes pretty substantial.

The overwhelming questions I am asking myself are:
Is the 1up Double SD rack worth spending the extra $300+ vs the Thule Pro or the RockyMount Splitrail?
Is the 1up Single SD worth spending the extra $200ish vs aforementioned 2 bike tray hitch racks?

    I get it....just buy one already...:deadhorse:

Woohoo. First ride since breaking my back in May. No picture but went for a short 6 mile road ride. Going to be a while before my neck muscles don't get sore from supporting the weight of the helmet.

I had this exact conundrum. My GF had access to employee discount for Yakima. This made the ~$500 Yakima $250. I was looking at the Kuat NV instead of the OneUp as my "dream rack" (heh) and went with the Yakima because, well, it's impossible to justify spending four hundred dollars more on essentially the same thing.

I was right. If I could go back, I'd make the same choice.

But here's the thing... I was wrong.

I use the rack so freaking much. You replace and upgrade bikes but the rack is a rack. It stays with you forever. Heck, you might even find yourself mounting it to a new truck. And frankly, the Yakima just isn't as nice as the niche rack brands. Every time I am ready to go mountain biking I dread putting the rack on. I am sure it has been the tipping point that's caused me not to go a time or two even. You know, when you're kind of on the fence anyway and the thought of dealing with that junk is enough to say to heck with it.

Also, get the double. Or are you pretending that never in the next 10 years you're going to ride with someone else?

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Get the 1up. Then you never have to think on it. You only live once, counting pennies gets you almost where you wanna be...almost.
Get the double and don’t look back.

I will brain storm on this. Are we thinking slick and simple like 2020’s.
Or over the top like Garbage Pail Kids graphic?
First thing that comes to mind is a cyclist ripping thru the middle of a Taco. Rooster tailing some lettuce, cheese and tomato pieces!

Nice idea. I've always liked the 90s theme colors and fat font

WesternNC Bikes 'n Tacos - Fail Festival 2019
Camping, Mountain Biking, Drinking, and Laughing.

    When?
Friday, 27 September through Sunday, 29 September 2019
    Where?
    Pisgah Forest Mountain Meadows
    Brevard, NC
    https://www.hipcamp.com/discover/north-carolina/pisgah-forest-mountain-meadow

    Who?
A bunch of Taco-drivin'-mountain-bikin' fools from this forum.

UPDATE: The host has already made the entire property unavailable for anyone else, so we'll have the entire place to ourselves! :headbang:

The next thing I need to do is get a CONFIRMED list of attendees.

It will be no more than $15-20 per person for the camping.
I will front the money and finalize the booking once we have a confirmed list of attendees. List will be finalized at COB tomorrow, August 16th, maximum 20 vehicles - tread lightly.

All good points. Note how I didn’t mention anything Yakima as an option

And you’re right about riding with others. I do intend to add my kids to pack soon. And hopefully the wife. But other than that, nope. Likely won’t be riding with others. In my 20+ years of riding, 99% has been solo. Not sure I see that changing. The 1% left is when I meet up with folks at a trail head that are coming in from a different area. I’m not trying to be or intending to come across as a lone wolf prick. It’s just how my riding goes :notsure: The single 1up offers some flexibility for the present and into the future.

    You and your logic. GTFO

I looked at Yakima and Thule.... they seem equivalent to me. If you have disappointed by Yakima in the past.... sounds like you have a taste for the finer things in life.
