I'm very curious how it will be because I've heard polarizing opinions on the place. Seems like a case of build it and they will come. A large part of me is envious of the Wal-Mart money making it a destination overnight whereas majority of other trail systems require lots of manual labor and fundraising to make things happen

I should’ve taken a picture but there was a fully equipped road crew building trail on the side of the road. It’s really something to see. The paved downhill is equally crazy.

If you look at the top of the pic you can sort of see the drop. This goes from the top all the way to the bottom with sharp berms and jumps built in. Absolute craziness

Sounds...wasteful. But also very fast and fun

Anyways, a guy I used to race with now lives there (Guess who he works for? ) and is going to show us the goods over a long weekend. I am looking forward to it

Its a really cool town. Really not what I expected when I went to visit. Didnt get to bike though, broke my leg a month before my trip. But still enjoyed the area. Can't remember the name of the spot, but its right next to one of the BikeRack breweries. Really good pizza.

If you have a local guide you’re set. There’s more than enough singletrac so not wasteful IMO. There’s another DH only trail that’s pretty cool cause you don’t run into people coming up.

Since we're posting the Singlespeeds....my race bike...well. actually. My only mtb.

    Rigid SS.jpg

Love the seatpost, but i want to change it for next season since it's the only non-matte black bit on the bike aside from the cranks/ring.

    Thx!

Yep, it's their swinger dropout system. I dedicated this to SS only earlier this year, but before that, I'd swap between gears and SS and it honestly only takes 10 minutes to do. That's assuming you have the chain/derailleur ready to go and leave the cable routed through the frame while SS'ing it. I used to just tape the shifter cable to the rear chainstay when not in use.

I had a KHS Solo One back in the day. It wasn’t any where near this slick.

I'd argue that going back to a trail for redemption is different than risking getting skewered by a poolstick again. But then again, maybe not, if you're not running a dropper. :D

In all seriousness, (almost) every fall I've had I went back for redemption. Mental recovery is just as important as physical, and having that in the back of your head makes that recovery take significantly longer. That jump that ejected me, had to go back and learn it. That berm that washed out, had to go back and rail it. Otherwise every jump and berm looks like it, and you go into them timid, which is an almost certain way to eat shit again.

Speaking of, I still need to go hit The Ribbon in GJ again. Last 2 times I have gone it was either raining on Ribbon day or I was with way better riders which is how I got in trouble on the first attempt.
