In singletrack you will get A lot of shadows through the corners. The helmet light is more important....at least around here because it’s so tight and twisty!

So I test rode a Karate Monkey, Timberjack and Fargo yesterday. I wonder how long it would take my Wife to notice if I put one in the garage.

Couple of variables and tips from an experienced bike hoarder/swapper... keep the frames, new and old, similar in color. It's more difficult to notice a new frame/bike when they are all the same or similar color. Secondly, move them around often... it's easy to spot a new addition when everything is neatly organized and remains in the same location... also easier to see when one is added when a new space is allocated in the storage area. By riding them often and moving them around, new additions are more difficult to track.

One does not make it to be old and crafty without first being young and oblivious.

Second tip; always, always maintain a "black" fund for parts swaps and upgrades... for each part that gets added, the previous one moves to another bike or gets sold. This one takes awhile because you first have to build up the spare parts collection to a point where it only makes sense to you and anyone else walking in would look at it as just a pile of used stuff. When new parts are added to the collection, they just look like more parts in the collection...

Edit to add; the best way to obfuscate new parts and frames is to always have a bike in some state of disassembly, or with parts off of it. This can be an old frame you will never ride again, but that is always referred to as the one you are "building" (for a friend).

I have very few regrets in life, but I have to add one to the list: being single so I can't take advantage of this wise mans advice.

I’m a clipless rider. I finally bought a pair of good winter riding shoes late last winter. These are a game changer.

I ended up with a pair of the Shimano MW-7 for winter riding and have been really pleased with them. I bought them a size larger than my XC7 shoes to accommodate thicker socks but I haven’t needed to use them yet. The thin DarnTough socks with the insulation of the boots is plenty warm for now... I’ll use thicker socks if it drops below 40.

I have a pair of those too. They didn’t keep me to warm.

Suppose I should list them for sale

Had a good break in the weather here and rode Ft Ord BLM trails near Monterey, California, which are either steep or sandy (or both) so drain well. Perfect riding weather, and for once I rode with a friend who likes to stop and take pictures.

I suppose that’s from the geographic difference between riding in SW PA vs. central NC...

Okay, questoin for yall with the OneUp racks.

Keeping my bed bars, at least for now. I like how solid the bike(s) is/are using the boost mount. Down fire
A, it will be just as solid correct? Thinking about taking one them with me on vacation..
B, I want to mount it directly to the bars..... which way would yall prefer.

I cannot find anything local to look at in person. I know it can be done, but, its cold, and if I am going to do it before I leave on vaca(2 weeks from today:bananadance:), I need to sort it out pretty quick...

Probably just going to bite the bullet. I was debating between just the roof rack version, or buying the hitch mount, and removing it, mounting to my bars, until I need it(say for my work van for out of town stuff)....

Wish I could put my eyes and hands on one locally first....
